Waiting on a new 3 GT HB

I was out looking for a cheap commuter last weekend. I've been looking ever since my GF got in a wreck. (See here http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123660294) I was looking at used SVT Focuses, because she likes the look of the Focus HBs from 02-04, but it was hard to find anything in decent shape at a price that I wanted to pay.

Well, last Sat, I decided to go with another Mazda, and put a deposit on a black GT HB 5 speed. The dealer had about 7 on the lot, but only one was a MT, and it was the greenish bluish color, and was the sport model. I drove a GT auto, but I don't like auto, so I asked them to look for a black 5 speed, and for my region, there was only one that was coming soon, and it happened to be coming to them. So right now, my car is sitting in Tacoma WA, fresh off the boat, and should be here in a couple weeks or sooner. Apparently, a black GT 5 speed is hard to come by....

I've been telling myself I was gonna get a MS3, but the wreck changed plans a bit. I had to get a car ASAP, and the MS3s aren't available in Denver for months. Also, I got my car under S Plan, and they're not honoring S Plan for the MS3. But they did have a red GT MS3 in the back of their lot, but it wasn't for sale. It's the one they'll be displaying at the Denver Auto Show. They told me that if I really wanted it, they could probably make something happen. But I'm sure I didn't have the money they wanted for it. Although it would be kinda cool to buy the car that they'll have up on the turntable at the auto show.

So I'm hoping to not have this car for more than 6-8 months until my insurance crap with the wreck gets settles, then maybe I'll trade for a MS3, because I'm determined to get one.

One thing I'm noticing is that most of the discussion seems to be for the MS3 only, so I'm gonna poke around and see what my performance upgrade options are, because even though I don't even have the car yet, I'm getting the itch.

Sorry to babble on....peace.

nah there are lots of us 3n/a guys around its just the ms3 is so new and is a tuners car that even us n/a guys are getting involved in their threads... there is lots of stuff check the stickies in the engine mod section and for suspension stuff the normal applies springs/swaybars/etc...

yea so far all the buzz around town is the MS3, but us regular 3s still exist. :)

Well.....N/A FTL....I couldn't do it. Couldn't have a slow car. Picked this up from the dealer today. Drove it off the floor.

Congrats. Looks like you spared no expense and got it FULLY loaded. I hope you didn't pay full MSRP, and got at least $1000 off. Either way, have a blast. it's a fabulous car. :)

Looks great! How was your experience with that dealer--did they hassle about markups?

congrats on the purchase! I wanted the nav but opted not to. I think us Black Mica owners need to come together to figure out a way to keep our cars as dust free as possible, since after a month of keeping it clean I've let the dust get the better of me since I don't have a driveway to wash it.

As somebody who has owned a black car for a while now, I can confidently say the California Car Duster will be your new best friend. Some tips: 1) leave it in a black trash bag, full of crumpled newspaper and in the sun for about a day before you use it. It comes with too much wax on it and will streak otherwise--the newspaper absorbs the extra wax; 2) don't use it if any of the dust has come in contact with water and stuck to the paint. If it rains, your only option is to re-wash; 3) don't press down when you're using it, just let it gently pick up the dust; 4) only use it on fine wind-blown dust. If you drive on a dirt road and kick up coarse dust, you'll have to re-wash. If you follow those tips, it won't streak or swirl your paint and you'll be able to go much much longer with clean paint!
