VW Amarok pick-up (2010)

Don't even get be started on either the Frontier or Tacoma.
The Frontier doesn't have enough ground clearance in its 4x4 model. What's your beef with the Tacoma? Aside from a radio recall, I haven't had a single quality issue with mine. For the price that VW would go for I'd rather get a Ford Heavy Duty...

I've already had the Tacoma debate and really do not want to repeat myself.

I'm sorry I forgot you had already explained your parents' case - it has been a while since this thread was last updated...

Not all of us are Euro-snobs (the way you worded your statement makes you seem like a stuck-up ass, actually).

It's funny you say the Tacoma is overpriced in your argument and then you turn right around and say you'd by a VW?

Eh, he just prefers the Euro way of doing things...

I prefer the VW in almost every regard save price...i love me some diesel, love the interior, and the exterior :)

My wording was a bit snobbish and stuck up I'll admit that. Your right about the VW probably being overpriced and I probably would not buy one if VW marketed the Amarok here in the states.

The price will be an issue that is for sure.

it is a spaghetti mess that is for sure.

engine covers just get in the way :P

It should be cleaned up for a production vehicle. I think it is a spaghetti mess as well.

Eh how many people take their work trucks to car shows? who cares what the engine looks like as long as it works?

Volkswagen Amarok Reportedly Headed to North America

Volkswagen will launch its Amarok pickup truck in North America as the brand searches out new ways to expand its product offering on this side of the Atlantic. According to a report by Car & Driver the Amarok will eventually wind-up on our shores, although its not expected to make the jump any time soon.

Having just launched in Europe, the Amarok starts at 26,203 Euros (given current rates of exchange thats about $35,300) for a two-wheel drive model powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel.

If VW hopes to make a success of the truck in this market it will need to deliver more powerful engines, although with VWs expertise in diesels the German automaker may have a lot of success with a smaller pickup in North America thats available with a diesel engine.

We suspect that if the rumors are true then the Amarok wont debut until the next generation of the truck a solid 5 years away, if not longer.

Additional rumors suggest VW may also look to bring over the Caddy MPV and yet there continues to be no confirmation on a VW Polo for the U.S.

VW will manufacture the Amorak here so I would think it would be cheaper. If they import it then it will be a flop.
