Volvo C30

I went and looked at one. I parked my car next to it. Roof line is the same, length looks about the same, and stance is similar though mine is lower.

It was almost 33k.

Things I noticed:

The fenders appear to be notched and the car has actual fender flares a la A2 VW style (painted to match though)
Exact same brakes front and rear
Head light visors!
It also appears to have have a front mount intercooler.

The rear quarter windows are the opposite of the 3. They flair at the bottom and taper toward the roof.
2 doors obviously
The interior looks better than the 3. I didn't get in the car at all. This is from the window.

Wheels looked awesome. One thing I did note, Volvo has stickers on all of their summer performance tire equipped cars saying they suck in anything but warmer weather and roads that are not covered in water. They just fall short of telling you to buy winter tires or else.

All in all, cool car. For 33k, pass. I thought I was supposed to be the age demographic for this vehicle (28-38 says Volvo's press release)

Come one 1 series 335i!

Exterior is nice on the C30.. Its the interior that sucks major ass on that car. Go look at one at the dealer to see what im talking about. It was the deal killer for me.

I test drove one the same day I test drove my first MS3. It actually made a bigger impression on me than the Speed3. Real fast, tight feeling, nice.

Volvo will fly you over to Europe for free and let you drive it around. Then they can call the car "used" so apparently the import taxes and stuff are less. I had "X-Plan" (Ford employee friends and family pricing) when I was talking to the salesman; he said that if you take "overseas delivery" they could also probably beat the X-Plan price.

What's funny is the car starts at something like $21,000 but the options add up QUICK! For example: cruise control is an option.

I test drove one as well. The brakes are HORABLE, I felt like I had to stand on the pedal to get the damn thing to stop. The engine is seemed way underpowered to me compaired to the MS3 as well as the enterior seemed more cramped for some reason.

The car looked nice and I liked the way the dash was, but as Hirudin says, after I set mine up the way I would want it I was at like 38k for it. Thanks but no thanks.

WHOOO 135i that car will be AMAZING but also nearly 40 large still its a small twin turboed BMW . teh C30 is a cruiser its most deffinately a volvo. Speed3 might be a little less nice but its much more of a car too.

I'm holding out for a C30R. When that hits dealer floors, I'll be in line to get one.

R models are no longer going to be made, appearance R packages will be though.
I had the S40, components in the C30 are from the S40, and I loved it, the interior was great, and simplistic, I love Volvo's, my dad has an S80, it's a beast.

I want the new S40 though, T5 on E85!

totally untrue. The s60r was discontinued because the s60 is being redesigned to match the rest of the series. The c30r is a very realistic option down the road for volvo though they did just team up with Heico over in Germany to work out an AMG/ Nismo kind of deal. If Volvo NA (ford) decides it is a good idea, we will be looking at a similar scenario stateside.

but really there already is a c30r avaliable.. Euro Focus RS.. While the US model does not share our chasis, the Euro Focus does, along with the c30 and s40.. the RS is volvos 2.5l kkk24 turbo, haldex awd system..or a s60r on a mazdaspeed 3/c30 awd system...

;)

They no longer use Haldex's AWD, they use the Ford developed AWD, which is very Haldex like. Which is found in the S80 V8, and XC90 sport V8, they both have standard AWD because of the V8.

Sorry hun.. but I am talking about the s60r and its powertrain. not the s80v8 ;) And they dont have AWD because of the v8.. they have awd because thats was the best setup for the car and also because the previous model s80t6 (i6 tt) would shred front ends like it was its job and torque steered out its ass.. the s60r is awd and is an i5..

I dread the hatcback look. Volvo isn't a bad car, just expensive to maintain when the times comes around. Plus it's making 36hp less then the MS3 and 47hp less then the MS6. It would be a little bit different if it was AWD though.

I'm not going to bother with you "hun", and I would hate to burst your bubble but the R line up is gone for now.

the only thing that bugs me about the c30 is that the pricetag is ridiculous.. they need to start that thing at 18 instead of 23-24
