Visor on the rearview mirror????

I guess I am getting to be too damn old at 24 to understand anything any more... I went to the grocery store the other night, and a bunch (~30 ) of high school kids were out in the parking lot standing around their cars. Two girls and guy walk over while I am pulling into a space and say they like my car. They look at it for a few seconds and one of the girls says "Your car kicks ass..." Then the guy turns and points to his lowered nissan pickup and says you are missing one thing... I am thinking, a neon license plate frame??? Nope, the visor hanging on the rearveiw mirror... Huh?? What the hell is that thing for? Is that a spare or something? One kid is standing out there, with his on backwards and upside down like he is trying to catch rain in it or something. WTF? Anyways, I talked to them for fifteen minutes or so before I went inside to get my groceries. It is really weird, At least half of the guys that talked to me wanted to race. I guess I was the same way when I was sixteen, hell, I was probably worse. I didn't know the P5 looked that fast? I told them to go down this weekend to the 1/8 mile track where they are having a test and tune, and I will meet them there... Oh, I forgot to tell them that I would be bringing my truck instead of the P5, oops. ;)

Anyways, my question is this:
What the hell are those visor (hats) things hanging on the rearveiw mirror for?

I am not trying to be an ass or anything, I am just curious... So some of you younger guys and girls help me out. Thanks...

are you talking about a visor like in the kind you flip to keep the sun out of your face on the car, or the kind you wear on you head. Mostly i think the latter is just for looks, golfers and rave kids seem to like em, i haven't seen where they do anything more than a standard hat, other than look different. btw i'm only 22 and starting to think that i belong in the 30 something age group cause like you i have no idea what the hell kids are doing, my 17yro sister and her friends baffle me most of the time.

Oops, my bad. It is a kind of hat... It Used to be called a sun visor when I was a kid. I guess looking different is their whole point... Thanks for the insight though. Oh, I know what you mean about your sister...I have two, one is 16 and the other is 18. Crazy stuff.

As for golfers wearing visors, I wear them. I like the open top. It allows my head to cool a bit more while blocking the sun off of my face like a hat.
The kids that wear them upside down and backwards because they think they are cool need to be shot just for looking so stupid. We need to rid the world of the ignorant. We already have overcrowding issues, stupid people should not be allowed to breed.

Yeah, adulthood happens. Maturing comes with a free dose of amnesia. Who knows why we did what we did - oops, I mean what other people did. :D
