Again, screwed by the factory navi. So, I got the zune runing video on the screen but no sound with the video interface (I know that going in to it). Now it's time to install the FMM100A wired fm modulator. Oh but wait that would be too easy(piss). The antena for the FM radio is also the navi antena. Anyone have any ideas other then wireless to get sound kicking with the videos.

Regarding the FM modulator, are you saying that the antenna cable is NOT the typical FM antenna cable where you just unplug it from the back of the HU, plug in the FM modulator cable to the HU and then the FM antenna cable into the modulator?

I was getting prepared to install my HK Drive+Play as a temporary solution for Ipod integration, but don't want to get everything removed only to find out I can't use the wired FM modulator that came with the HK Drive+Play I bought a couple of years ago.

The antenna that is pluged in the the factory navi is both the fm and the GPS. So when you unplug it and add an FM modulator, on the navi screen the car just goes in circles but never moves. I was thinking that maybe another brand would work, I tried the FMM100A from Audiovox. It was simple to do so give it a try and let me know.

Ahh, you did say in your original post that you were using the Audiovox FMM100A... it just didn't register when I originally read it. The problem is probably due to the fact that the Audiovox modulator cuts off the FM antenna signal when it's in use. The modulator I plan on using is specifically made for the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play and is simply a passthru, so it should not interfere with the NAV signal since the FM antenna signal is not cut off.

In the newer ford and GM products, you need an adaptor as the antenna input is not standard on the HU. I know the one on the navi is not standard but I'm not sure if they make an adaptor yet. The guy at Car Toys (not the best store or even a good one here) says the only factory navi units that you can add an FM modulator to is the Toyota and Lexus ones. I'm not giving up thought cause the same guy said it would be thousands to get a video source hooked to it and I did it for $250. So what does he know. It took me two mins to get the HU out and if you getto rig the power to your plug and play you should know right away if it works. Also make sure you go for a drive and make sure the navi still works when its on. Hooking up the power is what will take you a while, so just make it work and let me know.

I had my Drive+Play installed Saturday Morning using the wired FM mod. Everything seems to be working fine. The nav was identifying the roads and changing as I was driving, for the little I was watching anyway. i'll check it again when I go to lunch to see if the car is actually moving on the map. It sounds really good, by the way. Much better than when I was using FM mod in my Murano. This might actually be a viable alternative until Mazda (or someone else) comes up with a solution.
