I just installed the VersaTuner Lite on my car. They have some preset tunes for 91 Octane and 93 Octane ( for US). Drove around 70 miles after tuning and so far I am happy with it.
I've seen some YouTube videos about VersaTuner installed on Miata and how the guys were describing it like "a whole different animal" and a whole what not and waking up the beast. No, not on a CX-5. Don't expect miracles, at least, not with a stock car, like mine, and not with the Lite version tunes. It's faster, more agile, accelerates faster, that I can clearly feel. Especially when downshifting to the 4th, phew! I drive in manual mode. Drove 70 miles, tried to abuse it a bit, to test the claims. Higher speeds...MPG average 27.2, not bad.
I am a beginner in tuning so I do not know how to tune, so please pardon my lack of knowledge in this matter, if you expect me to give you more technical details. Maybe later, as I am learning more about this "tuning" thing on a CX-5 or on any Mazda for that matter. Lite version is 249$ and you need an OBD-USB cable. All the instructions are on their website if you are interested. If you decide to install it on your car, the process is straight forward, no problems at all. Make sure you have internet access to your laptop, a full laptop battery and, if your car's battery is not healthy, bring a car battery charger.
The instructions says that the whole process could last between 30 and 60 minutes, hence the car battery charger. In my case, the whole process probably lasted 20 minutes. I took the chance and did everything without a battery charger. More impressions at a later time, as I will drive it more.
