Vent to atmosphere... bad?

i've heard that enting to atmosphere is really bad for turbo cars in general that have a recirculating valve from the factory

how damaging is it to the engine?

also, does anyone make a turboXS RFL adaptor for our cars?

im pretty sure with our car, it makes it hard for it to idle and stuff
I'm not sure if we can do the same thing msp guys did--run a bov and a bpv, but I would like to find that out.

Also, I know cpe's ems enables you to vent to atmosphere.

the BOV vents "metered" air (air that the MAF/ECU thinks is still in the intake system to use for combustion) to atmosphere, so it tends to add too much fuel to the remaining air, and creates drivability problems.

Do a search on this topic, it's been discussed extensively (aka beaten to death)

i have mine VTA for the time being withouts CP-E's ems (which i will have soon). As long as you tighten the blow off spring enuff so that it does not leak any air at idle, you should be fine with idle problems. When you drive, tho you will run rich in between shifts. Its not to good for the car but its not extremely bad at the same time.

i have a hks which is switched easily from vta to recirc, i run recirc because some drivability stutters and sometimes i run vta because i want sound...get a valve that switches between the two so u can change them whenever u want

Going for the RFL eh?

Why not just get this thing instead, i'm sure its right up there on the obnoxious sound scale as the RFL.

With that said, everyone seems to love their HKS. The forge isn't a bad option, but personally I don't dig that metal cchink sound.

If you really want the turbo-xs I know s t r e e t u n i t makes an adapter for the turbo-xs hybrid BOV, the RFL might bolt up to that, its worth checking out I suppose.

Ok, newb question guys: why is SU always ***ed out or broken up with spaces? Has that brand got some kinda taboo around here? I've only ever seen that done with email addresses or names of competing forums.

Feel free to PM a response if it's too dicey to talk about. It's off-topic anyways!

Just had to ask :)

I ran vtoa, and got major popping from my 3" s. And it also seemed that the engine was stressing a little more than it should be during idle. Obvioulsy I was able to tell due to my 88 duro rear engine mount. I took off my HKS and I am running with the stocker now. I think I am going to purchase the Forge BPV. Just haven't made that leap yet.

less than full vta...ive read some that they rarely get popping and stumbles. full vta on the other hand is a daily routine.

All a BOV does for a turbo vehicle is release boost so that you don't get compressor surge and depending on who you talk to, some people will tell you VTA BOV's, when racing cause turbo lag and other 's will tell you compressor surge will eventually harm the turbo but will allow a faster spool.

Can some one elaborate on the issues a little deeper?

I know that on the WRX's its true that if not tuned for it if you slap on a VTA BOV it will adds lag and can make the car run rough. I don't know why but i wouldn't be surprised if the same applied to our cars some what...
