Vent to atmosphere... bad?

I have been running VTA without a tune for over 6 months with no issue. The trick is yes run VTA but make sure you cover the freaking hold in the Intake piping that goes into the turbo. In other words follow your recirc hose pull it off and cover the hole. If you bought the HKS kit from CPE it has a rubber stopper that will cover the hole for you.

There is no trick. Thats what you do when you run VTA. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where the stopper goes. You are still running rich and ecu is still running A/F ratios as if you are running recirc. You might not have any issues now, but give it some more time. I would check my spark plugs for s*** and giggles just to see what they look like...

Rican also feel free to go do a dragstrip run, recording your speed and E.T. You'll probably notice that running VTA makes you about a 10th slower, and maybe lowers your E.T. by a mph or two.

You know the phrase, "When Momma's not happy, NOBODY'S HAPPY?"

Imagine that your ECU is "Momma", and your engine and all of its components are children. By throwing off the ECU from its calculations, the engine will not be running at top tune.

VTA is even tricky on a car equipped with a standback. If you are after the "sound" (which I think is as dumb as it gets...nobody around you gives a flying F!), you are sacrificing ever so slightly your performance, and in the end, your plugs and possibly your cats (eventually.)

This isn't an attack or flame to you specifically, just knowledge for each and every one of you. If I hear one more time "Well I do it, and I've done it for 6 or 9 or 12 or 3,659 months or whatever...it still doesn't make it right for the ECU and you are indeed throwing off the calibrations it makes (unless the car is MAP based and MAP based alone!)

I agree no offense here I never said it was the right thing and or the right way to do it.

I have no choice now that I have a front mount. Unless I fab up a Recirc connection.
