Keep in mind that its not what it does itself, but what it does to the exhaust. It runs rich, and can kill cats, as well as cloud the air with particulate soot and raw fuel.
boo.......

Elaborate if you don't mind.
I agree no offense here I never said it was the right thing and or the right way to do it.Rican also feel free to go do a dragstrip run, recording your speed and E.T. You'll probably notice that running VTA makes you about a 10th slower, and maybe lowers your E.T. by a mph or two.
You know the phrase, "When Momma's not happy, NOBODY'S HAPPY?"
Imagine that your ECU is "Momma", and your engine and all of its components are children. By throwing off the ECU from its calculations, the engine will not be running at top tune.
VTA is even tricky on a car equipped with a standback. If you are after the "sound" (which I think is as dumb as it gets...nobody around you gives a flying F!), you are sacrificing ever so slightly your performance, and in the end, your plugs and possibly your cats (eventually.)
This isn't an attack or flame to you specifically, just knowledge for each and every one of you. If I hear one more time "Well I do it, and I've done it for 6 or 9 or 12 or 3,659 months or whatever...it still doesn't make it right for the ECU and you are indeed throwing off the calibrations it makes (unless the car is MAP based and MAP based alone!)
