What a load of crap. My friend got a copy of Half Life 2 for himself, and i figure id check it out. So i download the 700mb demo (for real, no Juarez), and go to install it. it installs the Steam stuff and i make my account (which is gay, but whatever, i just wanna play, its been awhile since ive played a PC FPS - Quake II was my last...). So its like... YOUR GAMES and im like okay then...double click Half Life 2 Demo...preparing to load...wait...wait...hourglass goes away, alright time to play and....

nothing.

try again.

nothing.

reboot.

nothing.

update nvidia drivers.

nothing.

update directx.

nothing.

So, fine, whatever, **** this, I'll uninstall it. Oh wait! I cant! I go to uninstall this Steam-ing pile of crap and i get "Cannot write to folder E:\HL2\Public. Fatal error". Thanks, now i have this s*** installed here forever. All because I wanted to play the damn demo of your stupid game. Gah, this is the exact reason i enjoyed FPS on consoles (eg Halo). Pop the disc in, connect to network game, and thats it. Youre done. No authenticating bullshits. Ahh, nothing like a 5AM bulls*** fest...I guess.

yeah, f00k steam...but DOD is fun for some reason. maha too lazy to download that demo

**** PC gaming....Console all the way. I can't stand PC troubleshooting and the constant upgrading necissary to even play most games in the first place. And that "steam" s*** is the worst idea evar. Viva La Xbox Live!!!!

I don't know, consoles have bad hardware, they lag on standard settings, and the resolution of a TV is not high enough to see anything but squares. There's no comparison.

Well, right now, ill take the bad hardware and being able to play the game over my computer which exceeds minimum requirements that cant play s***.

partitions are your friend.

s*** - when you have as much HD space as I do - you'd have to be insane not to partition the hell out of everything.

This topic must be in the same category as religion, politics, and PC vs Mac. Even if something doesn't work on my PC, I won't enjoy playing any console game. The only exception is Burnout3, but still it looks like crap on a TV.

Sorry it's not working for you though.

Behold the epic power of my 36 inch Sony Wega XBR 400, connected to all consoles with Monster(tm) component cable...480p,720p,1080i...trust, it is more than satisfactory resolution and overall graphical quality. Also, only on Halo2 with 16 people have I experienced any lag...and it is only when some idiot is downloading porn and trying to play simultaneously. Another great thing is that I have never had to install drivers, **** with settings, or any other assorted PC irritants. It really comes down to a matter of opinion...as this is one of the oldest of nerdy arguments. I guess it all comes down to where you wanna' put the money, ya know?

I suppose. You can have a nice console gaming setup. I guess I was taking into account other things that a PC can do. But as far as strictly gaming, I agree.

i only have small problems with steam now and then... it's actually a really good tool. sux that you have a problem with it

ps: CS:S is ******* simple.. you can play for 2 days and be good at it

try playing something like TFC or Fortress Forever when it comes out. games that actually have learning curves
