So I have noticed an increase in top end valve chatter at different speeds a lot lately in my P5, Can I adjust the valves or is this something else? It only happens under hard acceleration. I did get an oil change recently and I feel they might have used two thin of an oil. but they used high mileage stuff.

The valves on out cars use a classic tappet style technology (solid lifters), meaning that it requires adjustment once in a while. This is apposed to the more common hydraulic system which doesn't need adjustment.

So to answer your question, check the cam to spacer clearances using a feeler gauge to determine if the clearances are within specification before proceeding to more difficult diagnostics.

Note however, that solid lifter systems are inherently noisy from the factory. Therefore, unless you are hearing an abnormal amount, then it is most likely acceptable.

Valve clearance adjustment on this car is pretty involved...

You need to use a SST and replace your adjustment shims.
