Hey guys my name is pat. Im new to the forums as well as new to the driving work. I have a background of Jr. Dragracing so i am pretty handy with engines.My sister owns a Blue Protege Mp3. Its not bad condition no mods other than an intake. It has 130,000 miles which is alot i know but has offered to sell it to me as a first car. I know the history, she took very good care of it. She told me that as deal she would sell it to me for 3500 when bluebook is approximately 5,500. Dont get me wrong i love the car but i would really love to know what im up against as the car does have alot of miles. Is this a good deal? Thanks for responses.

I'd say it's a good deal. Even if you do have to eventually replace the engine, you'll still have a good deal. You know how the car has been driven, which is a huge plus. You could find one for a bit more money, yet the owner could have driven the crap out of it and you'd never know it until the engine goes soon after you buy it.. so IMO I'd buy from someone I know plus it sounds like a good price to me.

I have to say its a good deal, but save up for a built motor with a turbo kit and you will love it even more!

Well I plan on modding this but nothing too serious because it will be a daily driver. Also are there any sites that sell mp3 stuff. Being the Blacksheep of mazdas that the mp3 is i find it really difficult to find any performance parts or external parts that work for this car. Im sure you guys know, so, got any websites i could check out? Thanks for the quick responses its pretty great to get an outside opinion.

actually the mp3 uses the same performance parts and stuff as the regular and mazdaspeed models...its basically a modded stock protege, not a whole different car.

it's a good deal. There are plenty of mods, but if you're thinking of making some big horsepower, plan on spending some more dollars.
