US Diesel's big splash introduction

Nice ride that 9er but it doesn't help me in terms of up front cost or fuel..want the wife to seriously consider for her next..
My CX-5 replacement will almost certainly be a CX-5 the question is what fuel pump am I pulling up to and if its still gas does it use a lot less 'relative' to the current one- I'd be cool w/that! (not referencing cylinder deactivation btw!!)

Fair enough.

Maybe you should by some sort of interim vehicle if current one is due for a replacement until SkyActiv-X comes online in the CX-5 some time after 2020

Yeesh..CY or MY?
It's confusing now with Mazda releasing CX-5s in the spring [fall for you down under]!

I am at a Mazda dealer and they are mentioning 2019 for the CX-5 diesel. The Mazda 6 2.5T will be here this spring.
Yeah, and they were talking about 2017 for Android Auto....

What I want is the 2.5T in the CX-5. Bet it would get just as good mileage as the current engine.

If they think they can push people into buying the CX-9 to get a turbo, they are mistaken.

And altho there are several people here passionately and patiently waiting for the diesel, there is so much resistance to diesels in the US that I doubt they'll sell very many, since the CX-5 doesn't sell in great numbers to start with.

I still really like my 5er and I can keep mileage from going the moon via the 2nd car- right now the RWD X1 (8mos remaining) that will become the BRZ most likely w/G70 6MT being main wildcard at the moment..

BRZ is bit old in the tooth

^Yes it is, but its this old-school pureness and analog nature that's drawing me to it even more as I feel it nearing extinction like an Elon Musk cancer..I'm getting the last piece:) Ok a bit overdramatic but it may well be the last affordable piece!

I'm contemplating a Miata RF in my future for similar reasons. Though I wish Mazda would build an honest to goodness coupe.

My guy said really late in 2018 or early calendar 2019. They are not happy but are happy about the 2.5T in the 6. Said they have been asking for it for a while. I basically said I am out and would consider a CX-9. The guy aid some other stuff about the pain of a diesel. I think he was trying to get me into the CX-9.

Other current car sub 50k that I love...but I kinda need a back seat and can't do that to my car enthusiast 1st grader so not there yet but that's one I'm not too worried about its a winner for Mazda and they will stay true to the formula, little doubt Ill own one someday. The lightweight rwd lsd manual 2+2 atmo engined car, even if its not the smoothest my lord when you turn that wheel its just a thing of beauty, my old sport pkgd 128i couldn't come close to hanging with it in the twisties. My very sceptical wife who i made drive it had no trouble shifting it and seeing the light..which went from reddish yellow to green:) she loved driving it.

The 2017 was released here in autumn (fall 2017) so makes sense for the 2018 update to come at the same time

Most new car intros are in the fall in the US, but the CX-5s are now about 6 months late two years in a row.

My question is: is it out of sync the same way in Oz? In other words, are most of your other new model intros usually during your spring time, Sept-Nov more or less?

And I wonder if there will be another half year upgrade at some point to get back in sync. Time will tell.

There is no set period here.

Manufacturers release vehicles when they see fit

ugh, just read an article this morning on Chevy's diesel CUV.
damn it Mazda, you're killing me.

Yeah, I gave up hope yesterday. And honestly, I would not buy a diesel in 2019 knowing the Skyactive X is coming out in a year or two after. The other thing was the guy was very negative on the DEF fluid and the particle filtration unit. He felt most Mazda buyers would not be happy having to spend $2K on a unit at 75-100K miles.

Next RX perhaps (uhm)

Not if it's a rotary. As cool/neat as they are, I want nothing to do with one.

I'd actually be very game for a next gen Mazda 6 coupe if they made one (and would suit your need for a back seat). 2.5L 'X' motor with rear/AWD...maybe turbo. Yes please!
