Upgrade on 2006 rear suspension to 2012

On the bright side, those 2012 springs are $47 ea. compared to $72 for the 2008 springs.

Spring seats are $13 ea. vs $6 ea. on the 2008.

I got rid of my 2006 MZ5 and bought a 2012. So with my new MZ5 I got the new updated springs and seats. I did however keep my 1st gen MS3 rear sway bar that I picked up used from eBay and installed it back into my new 2012. I am using OEM MS3 end links and Prothane sway bar bushings and brackets. I also upgraded to rear KYB Gas-A-Just Monotube shocks rather then the weaker twin-tube OEM or even KYB GR-2. I've been a happy camper and continue to be for now almost two years (counting both 2006 and 2012) with the upgraded rear suspension.

Good info here, I have 120k on my 5 now and its on the original suspension. Time to freshen it up! what about the front springs. Are they stiffer on the new car? im going to replace all suspension bits since its cheap to do so.

I don't know for sure but I believe the front springs are identical perhaps not can't tell you for sure. I would not mess with the front springs unless your going to lower it. Otherwise a new set of struts and perhaps upper strut mounts should suffice.

Im just thinking that the front springs have worn abit too. and sagged and pouched out too. So I think im going to pop new stockers in there as well. did the 2012 raise your rear end any?

No the height stood exactly the same. It did feel a bit more firm and smooth though.

Awesome, thanks for the information. as long as I don't lift the car. ha ha. Got my jeep lifted and the car needs to be low. but no lower or higher than stock.
