Update on the Map Disk - No Good News

Brand new navigation disk

I finally have it. My dealer ordered a new nav disk which actually includes Hawaii. I bought my 2008 CX7 in January and have been back and forth with them because they sold me a car with a nav system that didn't work in Hawaii. They finally received the newest dvd and it actually works. Dealers can get it. Mazda part no. GP9A 66 DZ0 D. I even called Mazda support last week and they knew nothing about this new update - so I had my doubts and thought the dealer was full of crap. But they actually came through!

The problem about CX-7 NAV is not just the updated maps.
While the map disc actually contains info on POIs single businesses, the MAZDA GPS let you search only malls or grocery store.
Furthermore the POI search by name does NOT give you results by proximity, there seems to be no logic in the way it gives results.
Ex try to look for a Wallmart, it will give you a Wallmart that is probably 200 miles away.
Basicly the GPS system of the CX-7 is just crap, very cheap. It needs a total software upgrade, not just maps.

Rev D. 2008 Maps

My new CX-9 came with the Rev D. DVD label reads Mazda Part No. GP9A 66 DZ0 D (K4238). Made and ISO image and burned just fine to a double-layer DVD. CX-7 and Speed 6 use same system, guaranteed.

I can post to an FTP site, but not sure Mazda or Denso would appreciate that that. Drop me an email. howardru4u@yahoo.com

Totally agree with you! The Mazda GPS is primitive in comparison with other OEM car manufacturer supplied units and no comparison to Garvin or TomTom, either.

There is an update disc available. You have to go to your local dealer and go to the parts department. If your vehicle is newer than 5.30.07 than you have the most updated disc available. If you are before that the updated disc will run you about $250.

What version is the update from the dealer?
