Update on protege Supercharger!

Haltech is on it's way.....

Matty says he hopes to have everything tuned in time to show it off at NOPI. Look for it there.

2.0L Protege5 are the first two test mules...one 5spd the other automatic. Two levels of trim...1 with the Haltech F10X fuel controller the auto with the FMU and VC. Should be an interesting comparisson to see how effect (or ineffective) fmu's are under boost.

both p5's have the OBX 4-1 header. This is HIGHLY recommended since no car with a stock exhaust is available for fitting. Just from a measurment stand point there should be no problems with it though...I know the wagner shorty, obx, and Racing mazda headers will work...ES header WILL NOT work. Anytime you cram that much air into the motor you have to have some way to get it out or you'll pop the headgasket.

All kits will come with a FAL slim fan, blower, charge piping, relocation bracket, blower bracket, haltech f10x, bypass valve (2 options on those), hose and clamps, vaccuum line, T's, etc etc...everything needed to do the install in your driveway with basic handtools in a few hours with no jack or stands needed.

can ac unit be relocated? What if ppl would rather lose power steering than ac? Could that be done? What kind of power hit are we looking at if kit was modified to keep AC? I think the lack of AC puts a lot of people off. I mean for a track car, no AC is ok. But here we are saying a supercharger will increase streetable power, assuming power that will be appreciated in a daily driven vehicle. But I don't believe anyone south of canada would appreciate a daily driver with no AC.

Most importantly no AC means decrease in occurances of back seat acrobats, and in my book, theres no point to being fast if you cant score some back seat lovin.

^ most retarded post ever. Did you not even read any of the section about the AC? Matty has explained until he's blue in the face about the AC. Also, we live in Alabama and it's mighty hot here and if we can ride around without AC and not cry about it I don't see why anyone else looking for performance couldn't. It's not as bad as you think. The first time you hit the pedal and feel it put you back in the seat you forget all about it.

p.s. anyone who has to have sex in their car is a kid and 1. either shouldn't be having sex in the first place or 2. still lives at home with mom and can't afford a supercharger anyway.

for cost purposes, maximizing power gains, simplicity of design and efficiency of the supercharger, the AC has to go. there is no way around this and both Matty and Dave have toiled over this matter in great length.

this is not unusual. many honda/acura blower applications remove the AC as well. and why would you leave your car on with the engine and AC running while having sex in the back seat?

p.s. Vortech has required all of their honda/acura kits remove the AC or risk severe engine damage. Procharger's honda kit also requires removal of the ac. Sacrifices have to be made for reliable power. Whats more important AC or blown motors?

whoever was the one that made the final decision to ban matty is a flaming dousche. there i said it. ban me if you will, but i guess you can see that he knows what hes talking about.

he was banned for things that had nothing to do with his car knowledge..maybe you should brush up on your history before you look like a jackass.

i'm interested in the supercharger because i have a dx, no ac equipped and don't want one even if it were free...it's my autocross car and a supercharger sounds ideal for it, linear power delivery and little to no lag

Last i heard Matty was looking for someone with forged internals who wanted a supercharger so he could test both the limits of the blower and the fuel system. At 12psi that supercharger throws out about 1000cfm and he's guessing it's about 300+hp. Just curious to see if anyone in the S.E. region has a forged block and wants to do some testing...maybe some of you NA guys who are building your blocks would be interested.
