Ok, So I decided I want to go the route of Uni-chip instead of an SSAFC. However I don't know a TON about the Uni-chip. so here's my questions

A: I have heard of an ECU reflash from mazda for the MSP ECU, but I was told that the uni chip doesn't like it. Anyone able to disprove or back this up?

B: How tunable is the UC? I know it has the ability to have two (2) maps loaded on, usually a DD and Track set up, Also as I understand it it's possible to swap back and forth between these two fairly easily.

Also, is it possible to load a custom, Self tuned map, onto the UC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks in advance.

the unichip is NOT tunable UNLESS u contact unichip for the software to program it yourself. otherwise you will have to go to a unichip authorized dealer to reflash the unichip for your mods. BUT it can be custom-tuned by you if you have the software purchased from UC or tuned by the UC dealer

as for a "flashed" ecu. DONT do it. its a waste of money and time. its a hit or miss with the reflash. and youll still end up with a pig-rich tune. all it does is advance the timing a bit IIRC. but overall it solves nothing.

so it's like every other OEM part? $60 for the wrong thing that you can't return? lol got it.

How much would the Tuning software run? I'm ok with running a "Base map" so to speak, but I want the ability to run a Home brew tune if I please :)

lol pretty much.

and last time i got quoted about $300 for the software to tune it, but this was about 4 years ago when i first got my MSP and purchased a unichip. may be the same or may be different, but youll have to contact unichip directly for the software.

u cant post links for cross over auto, street unit, and i think thats it lol. BUT u can find used unichips for sale every so often.

ooohhhh Street unit. That explains what the "No SU posts" was about earlier. I was wondering what that thread was about. (sorry for multiple posts, Slow train of thought today)

ok. so more on the UC. Someone on another mazda forum said that they ran the Reflash and the UC and it worked fine. Any word on that?
