Underrated phone storage solution

I got this a couple of months ago as I never liked putting my phone in the little cubby underneath the a/c control, and I didn't really like the idea of a mount. Just needed a place to keep my phone out of the way, while I'm in the car - BUT is easily accessible if I need to grab it for some reason. I guess this is called a "seat gap filler".

A couple of positives about this accessory - It frees up room for the cubby, or cup holders. It's not really in the way of anything. And this particular "seat gap filler" is quite nice looking and almost matches my seats, so it's not too much of an eye sore. The phone lies horizontally in there, and is pretty easy to grab if you need to. It doesn't slide around or rattle.

I would say I'm very satisfied with this accessory so far 👍

Btw, the one I got is https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)

Curious if the phone would over heat in that gap filler?

I had a 90⁰ charger cord and had my phone in front of the shifter cubby. However there is no air flow in that area so phone would constantly give heat warnings.

I bit the bullet and got a phone mount. Only con is you have to reach under to get the hazards, and it blocks air flow if you want the vents facing towards the back of the vehicle instead of at the driver.

I used to put my phone in the cubby as well. I think the overheating in that location is a result of the phone getting hit with direct sunlight at times - which, when magnified by the windows, can cause the phone to overheat. At least that's been my experience.

I have not had a problem with the gap filler causing overheating - yet. Will let you know if i do.
