Underground/Local Hip-hop (not radio crap)

Ok so I thought id start this trhead to get some exposure to hip hop that isnt readily availible in everyones area, or to get people to hear some stuff theyre probably sleepin on.

For example, my friend moved to Seattle, WA and ive discovered a group called Blue Scholars. Had he not moved, i probably wouldnt have heard of them.

Heres a Few from Boston worth checking out. I can upload some mp3's if need be.

Check out a dude named Ohmega Watts - "The Find" just dropped and it has a good classic sound, new school raps with some of that native tougues groove feel to it.

My favorite group is Mars Ill. They are down in Atlanta but don't do the "crunk" style, they are underground chopped samples and cool beats and flows. They are releasing an album "ProPain" that has been held up due to sample clearance issues. When it drops it'll be hot.

I also got a group Lightheaded - they are dropping an album soon too. Their last one was nice. Higher energy raps and good production. It's a group of emcees.

One of the guys in the group Lightheaded is called BRAILLE and he's got good stuff out too.

Del is the s*** ! If noone has heard X-clan - you need to check it out.
X-clan started the whole "progressive rap" movement..
and they are the most sampled group in history, even above the supremes.

Really, NYC has UHH on lock, always have & hopefully when 40cent and his merry band of nobody's fall of the face of the planet.
Oh yeah, FYI, incase you guys didn't know, and pardon my ignorance if you guys already knew...but MoBB Deep signed w/50...that to me is no surprise, they could use the money (so did M.O.P for the same reason)...but the REAL surprise is Kool G. signed w/G-Unit also...sad. Hip Hop is sad when s*** like that happens. Atleast I know KGR will have some nice beats to go nuts on.

yeah all this is good, and different styles btween some of these guys so you can experience the broad spectrum of real gritty grimey hip hop.

oh yea company flow, forgot about them. they are an aquired taste tho. Ill make a list soon enough.

Theres alot of good ones, even if it can go on forever it should cause most people think hiphop is only whats on the radio and its sad. Not that id expect somone to all of a sudden like hiphop but its much better than whats broadcasted.
