UK Boot/Cargo Liner

Those are both awesome. Id be interested in something like that to protect my very light colored interior. Extremely afraid of getting it dirty...

Just how interested are you guys in this liner from the UK....the one posted by mattron? I know someone in Germany who may be able to get these to us (he is imports European Ford parts to the US and also has an account for European Mazda parts).

I shot an email to him to see if he can give me a price and if he'd be willing to do a group buy.

I'd be interested in one.

I have been seriously considering the "soft cargo liner" that is available here in the US, but the UK one blows that one away.

Looks like http://www.hendymazdaeshop.co.uk has them for $127.14 shipped to the US.

If we could get a group buy going cheaper than that, I'd be in for one.

He got back to me. 94Euro for this hard cargo liner.

At first I thought it was pricey, but then I compared it to similar cargo liners that I priced out for my prior vehicle (2004 Passat wagon)....comes to about the same price.

Shipping is going to hurt though. He couldn't give me a direct quote since he doesn't have the part, but stated to expect in the 35-45Euro range.

Ah...tortuga found a better deal. I'm going that route it seems.

On this website it says '07+ Mazda5. I'd assume I wouldn't have any issues with my '06, right?

I've used Hendy Mazda for the 5-speed gear shifter and some other things. Very nice store and shipping is usually no more than a week to U.S.

I emailed my VIN

I just emailed my VIN number to them to have them confirm the fitment. It says 7 seater model only, but I don't think that will be a problem since I believe the back seats are identical on the Euro and US models. I'll post what I hear back from them.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I am in the UK and have just bought this liner the posters in this thread have lusted over. (The one linked in the original post)

I had high hopes.

Sadly, it's a bit "pants" - As we say here in the UK.

Before I picked it up from the dealer I had visions of it being made of high quality rubberised plastic, with seamless hinging as the seats are lifted or lowered.

First thing I noticed when I picked it up, is that it's a fairly plasticky, thin and rigid affair.

Next let down is fitting it. Now, I don't know about you, but if I've spent this much money on a lump of plastic, I expect it to come fully moulded and ready to go. It isn't. You have to take a pair of scissors to it. This is to not only cut the holes out where the seat tethers go, but also to get it to fit around the rear door and brace holder. You then have to stick on these rather cheap Velcro stickies to attach it to the boot/trunk floor carpet.

Next problem is that it doesn't actually come pre cut to allow the rear seats to fold independently of each other. There is a large scissor icon down the middle, suggesting that you might want to get them out to do that. So I cut a rather jagged line down the middle. As the plastic is fairly hard, even with decent chunky scissors, the plastic kind of cracks and creases as you cut. Lovely.

Next problem is that it doesn't actually fold well when putting the seats up. It kind of awkwardly flops about, and needs a little guidance to sit correctly. And the worst part is that with the rear seats up, the main fold sticks outward - massively eating into the modest space that there is with the seats up.

Even with the rear most seats down, it isn't the best fit; the rear lip, although useful in protecting the threshold, just doesn't look right. It kind of sticks up.

It just doesn't feel like a 1st party Mazda piece of kit. If it wasn't for the logo, you would think it was very average aftermarket slightly failed attempt at a liner.

If you are in the US and thinking of importing it, give it a miss.

I will try and post some photos.

Wow, thanks for the warning Bodgerx. Sounds like someone could make a DIY solution for less bank and it would be a better product to boot.

Yeah I think they could.

This is the link to the one I bought (the original post link is now dead):

I think part of the problem is that it effectively a carry over part from the previous 5 (despite a lot of places stating it is a 2010+ part - the part number is identical to the pre-2010 5)

It is possible that it may require less cutting with the older 5 though...

I think the Japanese liner that looks like it is made from metal will be better - although it looks like it can only be used with the rear seats down.

The Japanese version is made of rubber material. It appears to be pre-cut for the folding seat, and folds inward when the seat is up.

Here is the genuine Mazda accessories brochure for the Premacy:

Thanks for bringing this thread back up, BTW. I was just about to order the UK boot liner when I decided to take a look here first. Saved me 50 pounds + shipping.
