Reffoxel said:yep this stuff is expensive. It's an Avery Graphic Film. Comes in 15"x10yd to 48"x50yd rolls. Largest I've seen prices for is the 30"x10yds and that costs $254.00 which comes out to about $8.50/foot. Based on the cost jump between sizes I'd estimate the 48" rolls are about $13.34/foot and you'd need about 55-60' of film for full coverage not including the hood (like they did on that car) so that's about $733.70-$800.40 worth of material. However since that's a custom order size (since most vinyl supply shops don't stock it) you'd have to buy a full roll and 48" only comes in 50 yd rolls, You'd end up having to buy $2001.00 in material costs just to cover your car. The film is advertised as a 5 year film, but my experience is a 5 year film really only lasts 3-4 years of exposure to heat and uv. It doesn't stand up to rock damage any better than paint. And you can only hand wash while the car is cool, pressure sprayers are a bad idea. Applying the stuff that large without any bubbles would not be easy, granted you can pop bubbles so that they aren't real noticeable, but over time after the car heats up and cools down, the slit or hole you make to bleed the air out would become noticeable, due to expansion and contraction of the material. Also, your stuck with the finish quality (orange peel) as you can't buff that to a glass smooth finish, on small areas you don't notice it that much but on larger areas you will. However repairs would be alot easier than paint, just strip panel and reapply. With color shift paint, if you want to do a repair you generally need to repaint the whole car because it is extremely difficult to match the previous paint job with that type of color shift paint, cause it will color shift differently (and no I don't mean the colors will be different just the order that they shift and intensity) depending on how it's sprayed on (direction, speed, thickness of coats). Very few painters can do that, even if they were the original painter. So I guess $3,000 every 3-4 years (of course that 3k probably wouldn't include stripping the old vinyl off) as opposed to $15000-$20000

The entire trip should be under 350 miles but what can i say... i'm hella anal.
