Wait, are you a vendor? Do you work for or know someone who works at TWM?

A petition for what? To undercut a quality manufacturer and avid supporter of the Mazda community by demanding lower prices on brand new products?
Unlike the OP, i'm sure TWM didnt just randomly throw a number out when they decided on their price. Manufacturing, materials, reserach and development costs, distribution, advertising; all are factored in to decide a fair and profitable price for their company. You know, so they can stay in business and continue to produce more quality products for this community.
The simple fact that they didnt setup a group buy themselves tells you they are firm on the price. Besides, they run specials and deals occasionally.

I can definitely agree
at the same time, perhaps it would be a good promotional idea -- those that jump on the bandwagon first get a little better pricing for word of mouth advertisement
esp since you know that EVERYONE wants to know how good it really is and having the forum with 20+ member talking about it could be very convincing for future unit sales

I don't see why you are all getting so butt-hurt over this. Maybe he feels its a way to show TWM how many people are interested in their product. Then they maybe willing to set up some sort of group buy. If not oh well. Just let it be.
The two names I added to the list (myself and a friend) are going to by the product regardless, but what does it hurt to try to get a group buy set up and a better price?

No, it would be a terrible promotion idea. Because those first people would get it at a discount price, guess what price everyone else after would want to pay for it? Then TWM would be forced to organize group buy after group buy to satisfy all the cheapo's who wont pay full price, so the company probably loses money on each one. Terrible idea.

And, you obviously can't read that well, because I stated I was going to purchase this product regardless of price.
So why haven't you already purchased it? They have been shipping for a week.
