TWISFM'S Turbo Build

it took me 5 hours to run the piping to a core I'd already bolted up. took like 2 hours to do that because I had to fish the bolts into the crash bar...

Yea I cut a couple of holes in the bottom of the crash bar so I could put the damn circular bolt on the back of the crash bar. Kind of a pain in the ass.

Oh gotcha. It really isn't that bad. Plus you'll have the vids I took to guide you. Don't worry, it's not that bad. It's just that it was just a bit more of a pain than I thought it would be.

did you mount the fm so it fills up the lower grill nicely...cause i heard its hard to get to fit right in there...

In order to fill up the grill completely you have to cut your bumper support like you do for the turbolife. I said **** that and just mounted it under. Still looks great in my opinion. You'll see it when I'm done.

yeah, I'm considering taking my cutoff wheel to the crash bar to raise the core up about an inch... at which point I would bolt it through both sides of the crash bar.

the turbolife actually forces you to REMOVE your crash bar.

lemme grab pics... its actually not plumbed in this pic... but when I plumbed it, I put the grill back in, so its harder to see.

this is a 6" core under the crash bar... shows you what fish is talkin about:

if I raised it up an inch, I wouldn't have the bottom covered by the bumper either.

yeah, thats more extreme than I'm willing to do.I'd just trim it and weld the pieces back allowing more clearance to raise the core.

After talking to Carl, then Petz, I'm defiantly not going Altered customs. With the piping, core and flange, I'll be at less than half the cost for the samething! Thanks a lot Carl (2thumbs)

IT'S ALIVE!!!!

The car is running and idling great. So far I have no leaks that I can find. Tomorrow is tuning time and also time for me to figure out why the oil pressure gauge isn't reading pressure. It's also coming off the stands for the first time in 5 days.

I'm cut up, bruised, tired, and dirty as hell but hearing that puppy turn over the first time was the most amazing thing I've experienced in a long time.
