Turning to the DARK SIDE!

I'm very interested in getting a turbo for my P5, but I've got mixed emotions on what kit to buy. I've been leaning towards the HiBoost kit but I don't want to have any problems. I've been told to go with the wagner kit and the HiBoost. I need some advice please can anyone help? Thanks Mike

Hiboost is probably the best all around kit right now, its cheap, and you get a fuel computer with it.

Yea we have had the best luck with the Hi-Boost although I have'nt had a chance to check out the wanger kit yet.

Nothing against Wagner, or Flyin' Protege (I have this kit), but I have seen the quality and performance of the Hiboost 1st hand. Getting smoked by an automatic P5 when you are running 8 PSI on a MP3 puts it into perspective. Pirana made 240 WHP on his automatic before he had to get off the dyno.

I can only provide info on the hiboost kit...and all this is my opinion. My reason for going this route:

1) Large IHI VF-22 turbo
2) Cast Iron manifold - this thing is a beast
3) Cast Iron Downpipe
4) Haltech F10 controlled fuel - with the use of coolant, air temp and MAP sensors. With some learning...you can adjust maps as your setup grows.
5) Easy to install - If I could install...anyone could.
6) Upgradability Lots of options for the F10 such as a boost controller. You can upgrade to the E6X and also get timing control. Also upgrade to 440cc injectors and all this can be done with one consistant company.
7) Upgrade to the HKS SSQ BOV
8) Bolts into exsisting exhaust system - no need to pay to have the exhaust re-worked

Please note that these things I listed are my own reasons...and they ARE NOT a list of things that other kits DO NOT have. This is not meant as a "who has what and what is better". This is my opinion (as you requested).

Since you live in CA, if you don't want to have smog problems when you need to get your first smog check, you should consider the FM kit. I believe they are the only ones proceeding with the CARB certification process.
