So I received a turbosmart dual port bov yesterday
i just replaced the stock bpv and i cant hear nothing
not a single little dump, im mad now because i spent 250$ on a bov thats not making ANY sound

whats my problem, i hope you guys can help me!

I believe that BOV is adjustable. If you are not dumping any boost you better be real careful driving your car. What do you mean by you plugged everything?

well if you are building boost but it is not dumping or venting then where do you think that boost is going to go?

what do you have done to the car as far as air intake?
fmic or side upgrade?
hard pipes?
cai or sri?

Or is it stock except for a air filter and bov?

so you do have ALL the stock black plastic piping? With a air filter just attached where the factory airbox is? That's probably why you don't hear anything. I ran stock BPV until it went bad and now I run the forge BPV. The sound on the stock BPV when i got a intake was unreal, only ever faintly heard it until i got a intake.

p.s. I have a AEM short ram intake on ebay right now, auction ends in 4 days

Imho, you bought the wrong product for your setup. With stock exhaust, pipes, etc., you're not pushing enough pressure to open the BOV., and idk if it has enough adjustment to get there. A better answer for your current setup would have been the Forge BPV (not BOV). Cheaper and designed to do exactly what you're trying to do. For now, I'd put the stocker back on before you do damage.

also that turbosmart dual should be adjustable. I knew a guy here locally that got one and there is a sequence step process you have to go through to get it tuned to your desire. It's test and tune till you get it how you want it. But you have to blow off most of your boost to get any sound, and then you'll run into stuttering problems w/o relocating your MAF. Which i don't recomend doing, but that's another thread

Well, you're supposed to be able to set it to control how much boost pressure gets re-circulated and how much gets blown off. If too much gets blown off and not enough gets re-circulated then yes, you'd have issues up to and possibly including stalling of the engine. But my first post still stands. I'm not sure your setup will support the dual valve bov. I doubt that it can be adjusted to re-circ enough.

I assume that you got the model #TS-0203-1021. It is the closest one they make for our cars. It was designed to replace the Bosch BPV used on VW and AUdi for example, which run more boost pressure stock. If you open the BPV up you will prolly see a green spring. Pink is the stiffest, green is the middle weight. If the spring is pink, you're screwed. If its green you could try adjusting it to be as loose (relaxed) as possible. If that still doesn't get it to open to release boost pressure, you could contact Turbosmart to ask them for a lighter spring. OR return it or re-sell it and get the Forge BPV, which is sold already set up for our car specifically and, when connected to an aftermarket intake like AEM, Injen, or WeaponR, makes a very nice "psshhhttt" noise when it opens. I personally run the Boost Sciences RDV which I love, but it also requires more changes to your car than you have made up til now in order for it to work correctly.

Yeah, that's what I run, ran stock till 60k when it went bad. I believe, unless you are running extremely high boost(which is not smart on our cars) then the BOV is pointless except for a cool sound. But, I turn many more heads with the sound that my BPV makes.

you should see about returning that and getting the Forge BPV ($115) It is highly effective and sounds great. People have to go get a phonebook and look for a chiropractor to get there neck looked at after they hurt it whipping around to see what the hell just made that noise

Thanks MSP-2003.5

Do you think i'm gonna have issues returning it since i tried it on my car? Like it's already been used...

BTW Sorry for the noobness haha

You never indicated whether or not you bought the "Kompact" series dual port or some other. If you bought the Kompact, the model number closest to correct for the MSP would be the TS-0203-1021. No Turbosmart product indicates that it is appropriate for the MSP...

I'm not an expert, but I believe it is supposed to come with a green spring, which I believe is rated at 7psi. For higher boost applications the stiff spring is available (pink) and I believe for lower boost applications there is a blue spring available. MSP standard boost (if you have no leaks, etc) is about 5-6psi. That may mean that even set to its lowest tension there is not enough boost pressure to collapse a 7psi spring, let alone a heavier spring like the pink one.

If you wish to try to make this work instead of trying the Forge BPV, I recommend contacting Turbosmart directly and explaining your issue to them. They will help you with the troubleshooting.

One more thing... make sure you are running a dedicated vacuum source to the BPV. If you are using the vacuum source that connected to the stocker, that may be your problem. I ran my RDV (insert BPV here lol) off of my brake booster vac line by eliminating the stock "T" and running the stock line to the wastegate actuator.. Then I inserted a "T" in the brake booster line and ran a new silicone vac line to the RDV. A good vac source is critical.

i went through the same thing.. well not exactley.. you're putting the,"cart in front of the horse" as laserblue would say lol
