I have a few questions about the mazdaspeed 03 protege...i have one and was wondering how i get the turbo to sound like it is blowing off air when i shift...i have heard of a blow off valve and was told that this is what it takes to make that happen but i was wondering what kind of applications i need to make that happen...i also wanted to put a sports exhaust on my car and was wondering if i could jus buy a muffler tip or do i have to pipe out the whole exhaust...i heard that if u dont pipe the whole exhaust out your muffler sounds like a lawn mower...lol...can anyone help me with these problems it will be greatly appreciated

First of all, go read some books before you do anything to your car. Maxium Boost by Corky Bell is a a good start.

Also, the FS-DE (Mazdaspeed Protege), SR20DET, 4G63, etc have MAF sensors and are known to stall if you vent to air during shifts. It's possible to vent to air but you have to screw with it and you should still be venting back into the intake anyway. If you REALLY want to have a BOV do about 10 seconds worth of searching on this site and you'll have all the information you'll need.

You already have a good exhaust, if you want gains you are going to need to jump up to larger piping and it's also a good idea to go turbo back. An affordable option is on the Corksport website (www.corksport.com). Again, this has been talked about to DEATH, searching would give you a moutain of answers.

if not, yes get a blow off valve to get the noise and either run the maf post bov if you're going to vent or run a dual bpv/bov if you want to keep the maf where its at.

A BOV is a safety application to protect your turbo. The purpose of it is not to create a cool sound, though it is a cool secondary effect. Sound like you don't care about performance, just the appearance of performance. You should get a catback or axleback exhaust for your car if that's what you are into.
