turbo

on corksport there is a jspec engine called 1.8L T4cyl (BPturbo) w/approx 210 HP (from GTR) *** will this work in our cars?

Corksport said supposedly it should. you will have to change the tranny, and some other stuff. Not sure.

Yeah it will fit in the bay is it a direct bolt in...not nearly....you would need a new tranny, motor mounts, axles, wiring harness, stand alone ECU, and all sorts of other things. Call derrick and ask him what they had to do that is the enigne they are using in their protege drag car.

Interesting...I would love to see someone get this done succesfully. (Easy for me to say) It sounds like it would be very EXPENSIVE!

It has been done by corksport call up derrick and ask if he can send you some pictures. But yes it woudl be very expensive and time consuming. The Stand alone ECU would be the biggest chunk of change and tuning it would be a nightmare as everything in the Protege goes through the ECU, speedo, tach, all emmisions, everything. If you do it though more power to you. I will stick with my turboed '00 ES this fall come the forged internals and the 15 PSI of boost :D

Just a quick note about stand-alone systems, you don't have to run everything through the stand-alone. Tec II, Tec III, Haltech, all the major stand-alones can be run along with the factory ecu letting the factory ecu control all the little things like ac, emissions and what not, while the aftermarket ecu controls the engine and the performance aspects of the car.

actually im not too sure if the BPT fits in the 3rd gen pros...ive been over this before and as far as i can tell, they only go in the 1st gens, and maybe the 2nd gens....i could be wrong...any one wanna shed some light on this?
