Turbo upgrade suggestions please!!!

im looking to upgrade my Turbo on my MSP and i was thinking of putting a GT28, but what all do i need? including upgrades to other parts to be combatible with the new bigger turbo (fuel systems, computer, tuning, etc)and everything!! thanks......

okay, getting back on track....

Mazdamarine, do you have any other mods on your car??

An upgraded turbo is honestly not the best plan if your car is otherwise stock. How much $$ are you looking at throwing at your car at one time??

Personally, i would wait to upgrade the turbo until i have a forged motor.... the stock turbo can easily blow up the motor, especially if you go about your mods the wrong way.

If i had the knowledge i do now, and the right funds, i think the build on my car would go like this (in this order):

Motormounts
Exhuast
Intake
Intercooler
Upgraded BPV/Dual setup (BOV and BPV)
Engine management
Boost controller
Intake/Exhuast mani
Possibly cams

Then i would look at a forged motor.... and THEN at turbos.

But thats just my $.02

LOL this, like most threads, has already gotten way out of hand... but I guess I'll add my .02 while I've got a second.

Do I drive on twisties all the time or go to the track? no... Do I feel the need to blow the doors off the 17 year old in the Saturn Ion next to me when the light turns green? lol I'll pass

This might come as a shock... but I've literally never peeled out with my car. not even to see if it was possible. I could care less about the whole "0-60 or 1/4" type times... that is, punching it from a stop and seeing how fast you can shift through the gears. whoo hoo!! not only is that bad cars like ours (again, not designed for it) but it's just plain lame... for me, it's far more enjoyable to take the country road home (especially if the highway is jammed) and actually turn the wheel. Am I at the track? Am I pushing the car to its limits? of course not.... but I'm thoroughly enjoying the car doing what's its best at... .what it was designed to do.

As far as these 400+hp fwd cars "handling like they're on rails" lol look... I'm not saying it's not possible. With the right mods I suppose ANYTHING is possible. (and again, it's gonna cost you... a lot more than it would with a more conducive setup) but let's get real... as has been stated already... if FWD was such a good setup for high hp cars, why wouldn't nascar,indycar,f1,rally, etc use them? for that matter.. how come exotics don't? there's a reason why rwd/awd trumps fwd in every possible category (except of course price) so let's not fool ourselves here.

a little gift for you to change your mind about fwd suck in every circumstances:

never said it was impossible for a fwd car to kick ass on a track. obviously the msp alone proves that's false. what I WAS saying (I thought clearly enough but apparently not) that when you want the best overall performance... the absolute BEST... you're obviously going to go rwd 1st... awd 2nd. You can't argue it. Again, that's not to say there aren't a lot of fwd cars out there kicking ass... but for everyone of those there are 5 rwd cars kicking just as much if not more ass. lol

but seriously... who gives a s*** already? While I love my MSP (best car I've ever owned) I decided long ago not to go crazy with the mods (I've probably put in around... 2.5k or so into it) and instead save my money for a better car. I won't condemn those that take the opposite approach (to their face anyway) cuz its their money and who the F am I to tell em what to do with it? But the facts still remain.
