Turbo the P5 or Buy a Speed...

Not meaning to bust your own thread, the HiBoost kit comes with every thing needed to ensure proper fuel managment right? I wouldn't have to look at buying any extra part or anything like that?

the hiboost kit has everything you need, but most recommend forged rods and pistons, and a aftermarket clutch. Those are not needed, but recommended, otherwise you might blow your engine.

I mysel will buy the Hiboost kit when i get the cash. With the right tune and exhaust system, you can put 225whp...

I'd say if you're seriously looking at getting a car w/a turbo and having it be reliable, don't get a msp or turbo your p5. Either one will give you headaches.

My suggestion is look for a car that comes stock w/a turbo that is proven reliable.

I agree with Lord_Zath, both are just as reliable, or unreliable...
But since your choice is between your P5 and an MSP:
Turbo your P5!!!
Nothing will give you that kind of satisfation.
I had the same dilema a few months ago... but the more I drove my P5, the less I could see myself trading it for the MSP.
I'm turboing mine soon... and this is the most exited I've been about anything in the longest time.
Good luck.

ya I'm stoked to its really brought great excitement to me seeing that I will be the only AUTO MP5 in illinois. I will be greatly satisfied pushing 170-180 WHP it will knock most of these hondas and integras off the road

as long as they arent boosting as well... Running 5-6psi you have to choose your battles wisely

Nah these are all ricer wana-be's there is however 1 honda civic thats a sleeper that i always see running around i tried catching it one day on my way to get my new exhaust system installed and everytime i tried to pass him up he would shoot past me no problem, and there is a integra that runs around with a loud exhuast but i dont believe hes turbo'ed

(glare) I got to thinking the other day, my goal is to put the hiboost turbo kit in my pro5 this next spring, forged internals and all that, but then i got to thinking instead of worrying about hurting my car, maybe i should just find a nice mazdaspeed and trade the Pro5 in for that???

Whats the Stock hp of a speed...??

Would It be better and safer to just buy a speed instead of the turbo?

Any Young guys have insurance prices for me, when i was looking for a new car, anything that was known to street racing was going to make my insurance go sky high...anybody know how much it would go up?

haha you guys make me laugh, I think I might save up the cash and take out a loan and buy The Banana Of Fury...you might know this car, its a locals and i really like it. Plus its already got a built block etc, so any big mods i want, i wont have to worry about building the block etc, like i will with my pro5. my only hold up is when i get that money for that car, i will have to sell my car to pay off my current loan...we will see how things go.

be careful with the auto trans. Pirana turboed his auto and prettymuch melted it.

Make sure you get a tranny cooler :)

ya but as i said i wont be boosting more then 5PSI and i will invest in a tranny cooler as well

if it's between the p5 and an MSP, I say the P5. Other than the crappy diff and the turbo kit, there is no real difference driveline wise. Any MSP you buy now is going to have enough mileage on it that the upgraded clutch is probably going to need replacement in the near future. The standard issue rotating assembly has already seem upwards of 30K miles of boosted fun (or hell) and it's just a matter of time before the diff sends pieces flying through your transmission case (if it hasn't already). You don't buy a turbo car to baby it, so the chances of finding one that hasn't been beat on is next to impossible... That said, the P5 will become a money pit real fast. either you dump the money on it up front to beef up all of it's shortcomings, or you dump the money on it a little at a time as it falls apart on you. With the P5, you can address those issues as $ permits (turbo last). Nothing sucks more than dumping a crap load of cash into a car just to get it running again when you still owe a crap load on it.

I wish I'd waited just a few months. The MS3 came out like 3 months after I bought the p5. Damn my need for a reliable car, damn it!

exactly, the p5 i reliable, put a turbo in it, most probably agree it wont be so reliable, unless you spend big money and do it right, ive decided to just go with intake, exhaust, header.

My opinion would be to trade it in for a MSP. My experience in talking to and reading post's from turboed P5's is they are nice but a money pit none the less. Even alot of P5's that have done all the upgrades, forged internals, EMS, etc. have had a lot of problems and in some cases still blown an engine or transmission. If you did turbo it you would be safe to run at a very low PSI. If more hoarse power is your goal you would be better off with the MSP. So I think you would save yourself a lot of time, stress, money, and efforts to go with the MSP in the long run. But above all, do what you want to do. Not what we tell you to.

Yea im just going with the basic upgrades, and focusing on looks. I really want a old school car with a big v8, not to race, but to have balls and look badass. i think im going to start saving and buy a project car or find something on ebay. i need to hit the lottery and buy either a 67 chevelle ss, or 67 mustang gt500, haha...DREAMING..
