Turbo Rotary Mazda B2600i Minitruck Build!

a few updates. i dont have pics of everything, but anything is better than nothing right?

heres my lower balljoint spacers i had made so my steering doesnt bind when im fully laid out so i can still turn! these are one off custom pieces, and i got a great price on them!

hopefully get them installed this week if i get the urge to get out in the freezing ass garage!

also got my new bed. well technically, i dont have it in my posession, but its at my buddys house. he got it here from denver, and i hope to have it in my possession within the next week and have some pics and hopefully start doing some sheetmetal work on it and getting it cleaned up and ready for paint!

also been talking to a company for an intercooler and piping and all that fun stuff, so if that all comes together i will be mocking an intercooler and everything in the coming weeks!

They look solid but I took have a hard time picturing. Where exactly are they going to go in relation to the ball joint?

They should look good installed. Are you going to powder coating them or paint?

Nice! Any hints?
nope, but i have a small update...

went out and tried to put the ball joint spacers in, but i dont think theyre gonna work. theyre rubbing on my bags, which is not good at all...

alright, heres some pics to show what im talking about...

pics of the upper a arm pulled back off of the ball joint...

and heres a close up. there are 4 bolts on the bottom ball joints, and two of these are partially under the bag(which isnt good, since i noticed they are gouging into my bags) so i need to figure someway to move the bag a bit or not use the spacers.

but basically u pull the bottom ball joint out and put it on top of the spacer to get clearance for the steering linkage so it doesnt bind against the lower support bars for the bottom a arms....

i will figure something out, but it was just nice to get out in the garage again...

i also pulled off the bumper and the grill. gonna start figuring a way to put a tubular core support up front and clean it up a bit since it looks like a total hack job right now...

hopefully have more updates soon!

Sucks on the hint but I like the update! Now I see how the spacers are going to work. Can you just drill and tap new holes and move the ball joint or will that change the steering geometry?

Defo a wonderful build. Looking forward to seeing the finished product as much as everyone else following this build is! Much congrats on getting this far and not giving up. Im eager to hear the results of the rotary swap and how it runs. Got me itching to swap in my future P5, sorry if im jacking that idea. Read thru all the previous posts, definitely a nice project and glad to see the club and people involved are recognizing your hard work and everything!!! Just waiting like the rest on the next update!!!

well the problem with the spacers is that there are two bolts under neath the bag itself. the spacers actually need to go about a half inch towards the engine to line up properly, so there inlies the problem. i will figure something out, cuz honestly the bags are in a bad spot. those bolts underneath are actually putting wear marks on the bags and will eventually wear through and cause i blown bag. which is never a good thing!

so i need to relocate my bags somehow, and that will make room for the spacers. well, it all looks good on paper atleast haha!

Can you grind the spacers down on the side next to the bags or will it make it too thin?
read above! lol

thanks man! its always nice to have people following this build even though its been slow going lately. winter is such a buzz kill!

in other news....

so, i think imma sell my other mazda. i have a buddy down in Farmington NM that texted me today and pretty much just offered me money out of the blue for it, so ill prolly sell it. honestly, the thought never crossed my mind ot sell it, but i could use the money and the garage space for this build, so itll prolly be sold in the next month or so. but its not 100% yet, so ill keep updated...

i have also been searching for a new front bumper off of another vehicle that will compliment the style of my build. everyone and their mom puts toyota bumpers on their mazdas, and i think they look funky, so dont even mention that.

but any other opinions are welcome for bumpers, but i think i already have it figured out, its just if i can find what i want cheap enough...

uh oh, whats this...

It might clash with the look you're going for a bit..

That would be hilarious! Especially with the winch, but i could make that bumper!

But im looking for something with an opening for the intercooler...

piktars anyone?

this thing is in super good shape! gas door already shaved and also has a roll pan with license plate bracket welded on...

hoping to get my other mazda sold in the next few weeks so i can start ordering real parts!

hopefully after tax time the parts can start rolling in! i also picked up some bed bolts and a brand new shift boot, but i avent got those in yet, and its really that interesting of an update, but just letting u guys know im still workin on this s***box...

i also have a few new ideas that imma try on the old bed before i mount this one since the other bed is pretty much trashed anyway...
stay tuned!
