Turbo rebuild kit help please

:
03.5 msp titanium
alright, i have the turbo on and off and i feel it would be nice to do a small rebuild kit on it but i am having a problem finding one..

we have a dual ball-bearing correct? all the kits i see are for non ball-bearing turbos :X

The stock MSP turbo (GT2554) does not have a rebuild kit. You have to change the CHRA.You can order one from Garrett.

GPopShop is the cheapest place your going to find a replacement stock turbo. Like mentioned earlier they are not rebuildable. Garrett does not allow people to rebuild those turbos according to G-pop shop.

PG sent my extra T25 to Gpop shop in an attempt to have it rebuilt into a Gt28 like the MPNick rebuild. Gpopshop said it wasn't possible to rebuild it let alone convert in into a Gt28. What does MPNick do that is so diffrent

interesting.. thanks..

any input as to where to find the cheapest disco potato or one almost identical?

blasphemy! (its a gt28RS)

theres two in the for sale section right now, one has a brand new WGA for 750 i think and the other was 700 if its still available

so only the gt28rs is a disco? what makes it different?

Why are you looking to rebuild (even though impossible) ? If you need a spare turbo, there are a variety of older journal bearing turbos from Nissans that can be used by simply clocking the turbo and adding inlet / outlet adapters. You could grab a t28 from a Pulsar GTI-R, it's journal bearing, will spool a bit slower than our stocker, and will breath easier at higher RPM's compared to our stocker as well.

When the GT2860rs was a prototype it was snuck out of Garrett and installed on an old school sentra that was being built up (the body style with the SR20 motor.) The throttle response and performance were awesome compared to the turbos that were out at the time. The car was painted a brown color with metal flake (and was pretty rounded for that body style.) Anyhow, the nickname came from the car but stuck with the turbo because the performance was so amazing for a little four cylinder. I don't remember when I found the article but it was a good read.

Three different body styles of Sentras had the SR20 as an option. Couldn't let that go, sorry ;)

As for the story : It was developed by Garrett in the US for a project car called the Disco Potato with an SR20 powerplant. The Disco Potato car was a B15 Sentra - apparently people think it looks like a potato, don't understand why myself

The Disco part of the name came from it's paint job - it was painted in that colour changing/chameleon paint (whatever it is called) - hence disco colours.

So yeah, from that point on the turbo was known as the disco potato! :D
