sup yall??
damn, my accont finally got activated.. so happy that i can finally post at this forum...
alright here is the problem, it's a damn long story....
about a month ago, i drove from san jose to SF(for those who live at bay area knows what i am talking about)...so i stopped at a stop light and as i go, i started to hear some weird noise that my turbo makes... it's some kind whistle noise.. then i took it to putnam mazda, a local dealer to check out wut's wrong, they said it's not a problem, u can drive it, then i am like OK...
another week later, i felt annoyed by the freakin whistle sound so i took it to Oak Tree Mazda(san jose, ca) then it took them a full day to diagnose what's the problem. so they call me back said that there is an oil leak inside my turbo, i was like WTF? i kept my car stock, i didn't go anything to it...and they said they might have to order a damn new turbo and i can't put my car there because i needed my car, also i couln't rent a damn car too coz i am not 21 yet.. but they said it's drivable so i drove it home...
Finally, i took my car to menlo mazda located at redwood city, ca this past thursday to check out the problem, and this time they said the blade inside the turbo is making noise and there's nothing that they can do except to order a turbo, and then i asked the technician if there is an oil leak inside the turbo and he said no...then i was like WTF, how come dealers gives me different answers....
anyway, i am on a freakin cheap ass ford focus now..and i 've been on a rental car since last thursday(my sister rent it for me, lucky).........anyone have an idea what's wrong with my car?
BTW, just ordered joe p mbc and want a boost gauge, any suggestions?

just like to share my story with u guys, thank!!

Sorry to hear about your turbo. :(
Blown turbos are no fun!
Its under warranty, be thankful it happened now and not at 50,001 miles.

As far as gauges. I have the Defi D Series. Theres a groupbuy on now. VERY nice gauges!!

the whistle starts to sound as soon as the turbo kicks in... about 2500-3000 rpm, and u can tell it's not a normal turbo sound....it also whistles beyond 4000 rpm... but just way different, and guess what, the dealership just called me said they will replace a new turbo for me... and it should be done by tommorrow or the day after....damn, it's nice to have a new turbo...

umm, can i have your messed up turbo... i'll give you $200.
man, if i can give u, i will give u definitely, but i don't think i can, coz i think the dealer will take it back.
i will see, if i can, i will give it to u for somewhat reasonable price.

Every problem you have sucks, but when its resolved quickly and without a hassle, thats a battle won. And then you will be back on the road better than ever.

if you had an oil leak in your turbo, you would notice the oil level going down and smoke coming out the tail pipe. did you? if so, then the dealer that told you this was right. either way you're going to need a new turbo since mazda doesn't rebuild them. warranties are fun

haha... thanks guys... just thought that i am lucky that it's under warranty..otherwise, i will s*** in my pants

since your getting it fixed under warranty, the dealer will keep the core. i was looking for another t25 to put a t3 compressor in and make a t28. :)

btw, the defi and greddy guages are some of the most accurate on the market. another would be the apex guages. i'm not sure about the vdo, omori, edelbrock and blitz.

even tho it's expensive, i would highly recommend the 60mm p/h/w boost guage from greddy. it records the peak and hold so you can recall with the push of a button. it also warns of overboost or excessive spike. personally, i'm gonna get that guage, but much later after i get my profec b spec 2 and greddy a/f guage.

nope, i checked the oil level, it remained the same, nothing changed...also no smoke came out of my tailpipe..so i guess there's no oil leak..

I had the a similar problem. I had the same sound that your describing except it wasn't an oil leak. I was having oil starvation. Basically no oil was getting to the turbo, which was causing the sound. Replaced under warranty.
