Turbo Lag From A FMIC

Do you know if Ion or Wagner are taking orders for theirs yet? I'm definetly going to buy a fmic kit.

Daniel, both companies are accepting orders for the fmic kit.

Go to this thread for Ion fmic

OR

Go to this thread for Wagnermotorsports fmic

Both are good products, just up to your taste to which one to choose from. Just do a search on the boards for members experiences on both products. It doesn't matter which one you choose they both lead up to the same conclusion. Hope this helps. :D Good Luck! Welcome to the boards btw!

What are you trying to say? That you don't believe in adding a larger fmic. Or are you asking a question? I guess that surely there are other mods to be done to make the throttle more responsive after the addition of the fmic.

Assuming this was directed towards me:

Assuming all other variables are the same, a car with a bigger intercooler will tend to have worse throttle response.

It won't really be that bad, but it's worth mentioning.

Also, the reason it will make throttle response worse and not increase turbo lag, is because the intercooler is AFTER the turbo. Get it?

I'm glad I posted this thread. I appreciate it perfworks, I have learned a great deal about the benefits from adding a fmic. Do you know if Ion or Wagner are taking orders for theirs yet? I'm definetly going to buy a fmic kit.
Wagners Kit is going to be ready for shipment in the next coming week.
Side by side it is the most efficient and well thought out IC you can get for the MSP or Protege.
You get more for the money you will spend. Also you have a gaurantee on your delivery not to take 4 months;)

Dana Throttle responce is NOT affected. Would you please let me know your take on the situation.
As I have already spoken of this about an hour ago.
If anything you have to tune the vehicle so it can take the mods more efficiently.
The application was tuned for the original induction schematic.
But i can agree it would be minimal.

Hey vegas I went to the thread and I couldn't find The ordering info but perfworks said they would be taking a group order very soon. And I believe I'll go with the wagner just because their an american comp. If it ain't american or japanesse I prefer not to buy it.

No worries Daniel! I'm not bias to either company. All that counts is that your taking the right steps to mod your MSP. Any intercooler that is larger then the stock one is great for our cars. Heat soak is so easy to achieve with the stock ic. I've modded many cars for years and I hate to see people halfa$$ or take shortcuts to reach a few hp gains that could be damaging to there car. Just enjoy your fmic and have fun.:D (thumb)

Ha ha! (lol) t3ase! Be a good boy and take your riddlin!;)

Of course throttle response is affected. According to Maximum Boost, Flyin' Miata, and a bunch of WRX guys that moved to a FMIC, more pipes and a bigger IC decreased throttle response. It's not night and day, the benefits outweigh the lack of throttle response, but it happens.
