Turbo inlet pipes

I have a Medieval TIP but its not installed yet. I got it with my MSCAI but never installed it....does anyone know much about this TIP? Good/bad?

I can't comment on the Injen and MS CAI being identical, but I'm assuring you, with the Cobb TIP and MS CAI, there was NO issue whatsoever with mating them up to each other. Everything lined up just as if the stock inlet pipe was there, sizing was correct, and the inlet and intake bolted up.

IIRC, Cobb only offers one inlet, one size, and CP-e offers two, one for the stock inlet size, and one for the GT series turbo, which has a bigger mouth to mount to the GT's inlet. They also offer a few connectors, since some intakes are necked down more than others. You have to make two choices when buying the CP-e; which inlet flange you have, and which intake system you run (Cp-e or other).

I'm not counting color as a different inlet BTW.

Here's a link to the product pages for both to verify my claims:

Hey guys...noob here...anyway....I was looking around to buy a SRI/TIP and I was set on buying the PG one due to the great price...and I've seen nothing but positive feedback on it.
Steve you said
I've personally seen quality issues with the PG ones that would be totally unacceptable IMO
Can you please explain what issues? I really want to know before I take the plunge...

Pieces of metal coming loose, causing a local members turbo to get toasted as a result, and piss poor handling of the situation after.

thats a HUGE surprise coming from ProtegeGarage.....has the problem been replicated or was it a one off issue?

I have the Speedie6 TIP, but if I were in the market today I would just buy the TIP and SRI from the same manufacturer and be done with it. That way you know everything matches up and stays together.

I'm leaning towards the PG SRI with upgraded larger K&N filter right now.

I've heard of several having that issue. I've also seen guys who ordered the TIP and had to wait because parts were missing when it arrived at their house.

Wow, when I had my p5, I bought most of my parts from PG and never had a issue with missing parts or things not fitting correctly....that sucks for those who have had issues :(

Yeah when I got my PG inlet it had metal shavings all stuck inside. Took me about 45 minutes to clean all that crap out.

Huh, seems like a lot of people always recommended the CPE and Cobb. Obviously quality pieces with a proven track record. Unfortunately, it seems you pay a lot for that reputation and brand names.

It also seems that the PG inlet or combo is pretty hit or miss. I have read people say no issues, works great and you can't beat the price. Then I have also read statements like Tunersteves saying quality is lacking and there are plenty of out of stock and customer service horror stories.

I don't however, hear a lot (good or bad) about the Corksport combo. When I was looking a few weeks ago, to me it seemed like a good compromise. Fairly well know company for Mazda performance with a decent reputation. Plus, you could pick up the combo Inlet/TIP for about the same price as just one piece from CPE or Cobb. I went ahead and ordered the combo.

However, I am a little nervous that I haven't really heard of anyone running the CS. When I first ordered it was on backorder for about 3 weeks, but they were very upfront and provided good communication. Just got an email yesterday saying it shipped so should be here in a few days. I guess I will let everyone know my impressions as far as quality and performance once I get it installed.

Yea, I know that was a little OT as far as matching to a CAI, but figured the discussion has moved to TIPs in general, so thought I would throw out my 2 cents.

Corksport makes quality goods. They will work out just fine man don't worry about it.

FWIW, i had to blow metal shavings out of my CP-E nano as well.

im getting my PG inlet in the mail in about a week, so ill report back with my findings.

i decided ima go with teh corksport inlet. great price, and all the parts i have gotten from them thus far have been quality & have lasted. no idea if anyone has tried fitting with teh MSCAI, so ill call em today to find out if they know of any fitment issues. :D

the more i think about it, the turbo inlet upgrade should be done at the same time as turbo upgrade...i plan on going with either a gt28 or gt30 by the end of the year so i think if i were to upgrade now and go with a small turbo side opening to have to scrap it later for a bigger one it would be a waste right?

Get the corksport then. Its under 100 bucks and you will be able to sell it easily.

I came across this TIP made by MODE. It looks just like the Cobb TIP, just cheaper. Anyone running this TIP? Opinions?
