turbo cool down

my first turbo car and I wont be getting a turbo timer for at least a month, and in the mean time I was wondering about the turbo cool down. It says in the manual and i have read in other places to leave the car running at idle for 30 seconds or so before turning it off.....if you are say drivnig around a parking lot in 2nd gear really slow, so you are at really low rpms and the turbo isnt really doin any work in the 1-2krpm range, can that count as a cool down? or should you still leave it idling for 30 secs once the vehicle is stopped and in neutral?

Turbo timers are useless unless you like to boost 20 seconds befor eyou pull into your drive way.

After using boost give the turbo 20 seconds to cool, thats it. By the time I detach my face plate and get my CDs the turbo is cooled. If you don't use boost before stoppiong then your fine.

Hey slug, how did your delivery go? What was your final price?
I can't wait to see your car, lets set something up for this weekend.

As far as turbo cooling, sometimes I forget to cool it down,
though I don't run the turbo hard before I turn it off.
I'm getting better at remembering.
SO let me know about this weekend or even another weekend
if this one is not that good.

If u want to be 100 percent sure get an EGT gauge and when it falls below 300 C (greddy gauge) your fine. But yeah only if u boost into a parking spot other than that u are fine.

hey steve, delivery went real smooth

I walked into the dealership and my salesman was with someone at his desk. As soon as i walked in, a salesman from across the showroom that knew i had been waiting for so long and saw me eyeing my car on the way in was like "im sorry kid, that car is already spoken for" funny stuff :)

then i turned to my salesman, he just tossed me the keys and said "have fun" :)

real smooth, i test drove it just for the heck of it before signing papers. Then we chatted for a bit about maintenance warranty, features etc.

my out the door price minus my 250 deposit and 500 grad discount was 21,266

i gotta go back for a 1500 mile oil change.....which at this rate could be as early as tomorrow afternoon. Now that i think of it maybe i will go back tomorrow afternoon cuz i need a car cover and the parts dept was closed when i took delivery......

Im up for gettin together next weekend. Maybe somewhere in the hartford area? I think OrangeAppeal who lives like 10 minutes from me will have his car by then too so maybe he will wanna come.

I'm down for this weekend in Hartford (car not in as of Monday 12:50pm, but I have hopes of soon), but I'll be in Seattle the following weekend, soo can't make it to the Mass one.

If i am in a rush I will only cool it down for 10-15 seconds( enough to remove seatbelt, and open door.) But if I am not in a rush I will sit in it let it cool for 45-50 secs. But all this will change next week when I install my turbo timer.
