I want to know what kind of camshaft lift duration would max my potential of if using a hiboost turbo kit. a 255 duration at 9.5mm of lift or a 282 with 11.3mm of lift. everyone knows the 282 with 11.3 will provide more power with a NA motor, but how are they effected by forced induction. and is the haltech tunable to add in new cams and such

Depending on what you will be using the car for, a 262-270 would do very well with the stock head design. The main thing to do is to match the turbos A/R with the least amount of back pressure with the least amount of cam overlap. I am thinking more on the lines of at least a .63 A/R nothing lower. IMO a sweet combo would be a (I am a Garrett fan) gt3063 to get the job done, and at 10 psi with a 650-750 12 ohm injectors, upgraded fuel pump the above cams and a EMS properly tuned I would say at least 300whp with just as much torque. .02 :)

ok, me and doogie must be using different terms becuase that just confused the hell out of me. my numbers are based off of the cosworth cam set which i recently found out might not work for my engine anyway, i know of a few shops that can make camshafts and they would just need the numbers to build it. i am going to use the hiboost kit more than likely becuase they offer the complete package and easy install i want to take there kit to the next level with cams, pistons and such. i was thinking that in may just redoing everything at once. i am trying to figure out what cams would work best with the kit, i think i am going to go talk to juan myself and see what he thinks

Why do you even want cams? There are easier and better ways to get power from a turbo.
You would be better off just upgrading the turbo with the hi-boost kit.
I wouldn't look into cams until I ran out of other places to make power.

What are your goals?

And Crower is soon to make a turbo grind, that will be cheaper than getting custom ones made.

i have a nice budget for this car, and since i have a truck to drive i have no hurry to get the car back in running order, i want the extreme mazda 3, i am starting with a new block that will be in soon, i am going to have it prepped and sleeved, and then forged everything and low comp for insane boost. i want to pretty much dust anything around here, eat all integres/rsx. kill all hondas, and even mess up a mustang gt or 2, i have full intentions on using the hiboost kit with every upgrade he sells. i just havent looked at the cams or head work that is also very important

hold out for Crower for cam, as they'll have a turbo grind. timing is looking for sometime in the summer.
