hey, just wodering to what do you guys tune the cars to, and what is better, i hear some people tune to get no knock and some tune to good a/f ratio ? but some times you can get no knock but still be runing pig rich ?
YOu have to!
Like I checked with alot of different sources and came to a unified conclusion that 12.5:1 was a good AF to be safe and make power. Now all that is pointless if say at 4000RPM I knock with 7PSI, so for that I would have to run something to retard the timing to aviod the knock.
More then lack of fuel causes knock. Timing is another HUGE contributer as is intake temperature.
So to tune to get power you want a good AFR but if knock is present it may not be from lack of fuel, hence you must tune for both.
You want to tune for a good A/F ratio, and no knock due to advanced timing. All in all both are preventative measures against what......KNOCk my friend!
