TRZ or ********** MOUNT...!

i plan on buying a motor mount today, i want to know what u guys think, ive heard alot fo great about trz and not much about S t r e e t u n i t, i want a mount that will be reliabe and i wont have to worry about snapping or anything, and i dont really mind the vibrations and from what i read, the delrin trz breaks in nice and the vibs are not that bad.

any opinions are welcome, jsut tryin to make a choice.

I wish some of the guys with the TRZ poly would post their opinions. Ive got it and other than slight vibration at idle I cant tell any difference from when it was stock....

and that includes the motor moving when I shift. Now that the mount is broke in, it feels like stock again.....maybe slightly stiffer. The first two days I had it I could tell a HUGE difference in the way the car drove... now not so much.

I know everybody is just gonna say Im used to it..lol... but I constantly am thinking that the bolts are loose or that I tore one of my other mounts or something.

More opinions on this would be appreciated. It just doesnt seem like the damn thing should "break in" that much. Its built like a rock. It seems like it "broke in" as in...broke....something else.

I put the solid mount that ptp sells in my car and the car vibrates alot just off of idle. Feels like it eliminates wheel hop but until i go to the track I wont be able to tell if it helps my 60fts. I think it feels cool now that Im used to it. Makes the car feel not so soft, if you how what I mean. LOL

all the companies that sell the really stiff mounts swear up and down that after some breaking in, the vibrations calm after down about 500-1000 miles. do you think this actually happened, or did you just get used to it more?

Mine isnt "super" stiff but I can tell it calmed down for sure. Maybe even too much. The second day I had it in the car was perfect. Another member here on the forum drove it and thought it was "incredible"..... It definately calms down, Id say within a couple hundred miles.

Oh no the vibration has not gone away. I dont see how it can when the mount is solid. Not urethane, i mean solid. LOL

Have you had the motor mount recall done? There was another guy that couldn't tell the difference and his motor fell out shortly after.

You better make sure. Once they put his motor back in and the factory side mount was fixed, he was surprised at the difference the TRZ mount made.

It's night and day to me.

Damn. You ruined my night. My car is going into the dealer in the morning. I'll have them check it out. Whats funny is... I have had both recalls done. Im going in tomorrow because the coldstart issue was not fixed. My swirl valve is still sticking.

I dont trust my dealer. It wouldnt surprise me if their recalls comprised carwashs only.

I repeat. Damn. My motor moves too much right now I think.... its got to be more than just "break in". I get vibration at idle, but rough motor movement, similar to stock, at WOT.

Damn.

wondering if its just me or not... but for those of you with solid mounts, do you hear some clunking going over bumps and some other random times? i noticed that ever since i installed the mount ive been hearing a random clunk. i put the stock mount back in and it disappears. Could the stiff mount just be making a different problem detectable? or is it just the stiffness of the mount and nothing is wrong with my car?

i think im sold on the delrin mm, from what alot of people said, the mount "breaks in" and the idle isnt that bad. ill be placing the order 2moro

I think I'm gonna try the poly trz... I was debating between the 2 mounts and I think its a good combo of comfort and performance. I'm not a hardcore racer, but I still want to be in touch with my car. And I hate the slop of the factory mount. Not even with wheel hop, but when you get on and off the throttle real quick in tight turns/ switchbacks I can feel the motor rock on its mounts.... and it makes me sad :( lol

I was getting a lot of clunking noises with my delrin mount. In fact, when I first put it in, while the shift feel was improved, i hated it. I couldn't stand it. It drove me INSANE because it was vibrating like CRAZY at idle and would make these HORRENDOUS noises. I mean... i was so fed up with it, but I wasn't about to admit I wasted $100 on a product, and there was still the chance that maybe mine was defective or something.

So, I climbed under the car and identified the source of the clunks: I grabbed the mount and moved it back and forth / side to side a bunch and I could hear the metal inner bushing hitting the delrin outer bushing. So, I pulled out the mount, and with some help from speed3shon managed to place a small strip of duct tape on the outside of the metal bushing so that it sat nice and snug in the delrin bushing. Put it back in, wiggled it around, no more noises. Started up the car, and it was like night and day in terms of both vibrations and annoying noises. The car was just.... awesome.

However, after a bit the duct tape sort of deteriorated so I needed a more permanent solution. I went to autozone and picked up some 5 minute epoxy, slathered the inside of the delrin bushing with it, and put the metal inner bushing back in. So far, its held up really well, and this solved ALL of the complaints I had about the delrin MM.

Keep in mind that I'm still getting vibrations and rattles inside the car... thats inevitable, but the difference is that now they are a minor nuisance whereas before they were unbearable. And the difference when driving and launching the car is definately noticeable. Its definately a good mod for the money IMHO. I doubt you'll notice a big difference with any of the polyurethane mounts, they may help a little, but it'll only be a very slight difference. The delrin MM however has made a much more noticeable impact, of course at the cost of more vibs.

So its really up to you... all I can do is give you my opinion, and I honestly beleive that if you are gonna go poly, just get the CS inserts because the TRZ poly costs the same as the delrin and I doubt you will notice much difference between that and the CS inserts. The delrin is the way to go. Even if you only put it in during race days, its a simple swap to do.

$6 1900PSI+ Epoxy and factory motor mount = cheapest and works just fine. Not to mention the dealer will never notice the epoxy and think the motor mount is stock so you don't have to remove it for warranty work if you're worried about that :)

it JUST clicked in my head today as i was walking out to my car that the bushing was the culprit... time to get that mother stuck in there. Think if i put red loctite on the inside of the derlin bushing it would hold?

Hrm.... it should. You don't need much, and you don't necessarily need it to be glued in there, just having another layer of SOMETHING to prevent it from moving back and forth seems like it will help.

Let me know how the red loctite works out for you. If it ever breaks free and starts clunking again, you can always pull it out and re-do it with something stronger.

Definately let me know if it helps, I'm very curious.

Well I had the dealer check my transmission mount and it had loosened up again. He didnt seem freaked but.... I was. Also checked the torque on my TRZ mount.

After my service the car was night and day. Felt like it did before.... I dont think I put enough locktite or something.... but if anybody feels anything like did, make sure to check your bolts.

I love the way my car feels now and even with the poly instead of the delrin, I cant believe it isnt a huge improvement over CS inserts or something.

Anyway... I say TRZ all the way. But install it right:)

I'm glad you had it checked out!

I kinda figured that's what might have happened.

Thanks for reading this thread and saying something!!!

Its funny..you'd think I would have KNOWN something was wrong... but the feeling came on so gradually that I really didnt notice it until the last couple days... and even then, I sort of thought maybe I was imagining it.

Thanks again bigtime. Modding is a fulltime job damnit:)
