Trying to remove the plastic around the rearview mirror... 2005 hatchback

Hey

Ive been trying to get off my rearview mirror to put the upgraded mirror in its place.

However im afraid im going to snap that plastic that is surrounding the mirror ..... any ideas how you remove the mirror / that plastic part...
I know how to remove the mirror once i can gain access to it....
