I'm thinking of buying the TWM Short Shifter Kit Stage 1 for my car. What are the benfits of it and what other mod would go good with it?

Robby, I got the stage 2 (haven't installed yet), and I got the motor mount at the same time. They're supposed to be a great combo to smooth out the shifting and improve the driveability of the car.

i had the stage 1 and upgraded to the 2. i had a kartboy in my old protege that was really short, so i was looking for somethign more like that, hence the upgrade. i saw very little differnce in throw between the 1 and 2, so the 1 is still a good buy.

Robby...

I have the Stage 1 short shifter with the metal bushings. The best way to describe it is simply you get more precise shifts with less travel on your throws (as the name implies (yes)). Stock is very long and sloppy imho. Many people don't think so until they install or try out someone else's car with the SS kit and they instantly feel the difference. Along with the kit I threw on a sparco shift knob, but that was just to get the feel I wanted. I think the best mods to go with the SS are differential and motor mounts. I have the cp-e ones. The combo of the mounts and the SS kit really dials the car in as a quick solid shifter where everything stays in place... no clunking or wheel hop. If you are the hard launcher type, you definitely want to go this way. Hope what I have said helps a little. Happy modding.
