i was told i can add like two washers to the wastegate and create more boost, of couse due to addingmore pressure to the wastegate.

has anyone done this?

Don't know about two washers, but we intalled a Carburator Spring stretched across the actuator on my ex's Speed Protege Wastegate and that increased boost from 6 to 9 psi, and was very stable too...

Search the Mazdaspeed Protege Forums they have a posting about it in there somewhere along with necessary prt numbers from o-reillys...if you have a boost gauge or a good monitor that makes it easier start with the full length of the sping then just shorten the distance between the hooks for the desired effect...plus this is easily removable for dealership visits :)

It is unlikely this will up the boost, but give it a try and let us know. The boost is actively controlled by the ECU. Without ECU intervention, the boost is set to about 6-8 psi. The ECU controls a solenoid that raises the boost when it feels it is good to do so. Changing spring pressure will raise the floor of the uncontrolled boost level, but won't change the ECU controlled levels.

acutallly. if it takes more pressure to open the wastegate. that means you are building more boost. more boost has to build to push the gate open

Excellent explanation.
