Transmission Service Pricing?

Hi, my 2004 Mazda3 has just reached 75k miles. So far, this car has been wonderful. The only problem I encountered about 10k miles ago was a bad engine mount which has been replaced.

I'm planning on bringing it into the dealer for a full transmission service. They quoted me $149. Is this expensive? I normally don't like taking my cars into dealerships for anything just because their prices are usually outrageous. The $149 for this seems acceptable. Not sure if I would trust a non-dealer for performing this service. What do you guys think? Is it worth having the dealer do this just for the piece of mind that they will do a good job compared with Joe the mechanic from the corner repair shop?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

thats a good deal for 149 thats assuming they are going to use MERCON V fluid, since dextron/mercon fluid can potentialy damage your trans. At our dealer we charge 160 for a MERCON V flush so do it and save yoru trans

it depends on what they are doing for the trans service...I'm assuming you have an auto? For that price if they are are just going to drain and fill the fluid that's a joke, because that really does nothing, you don't get the fluid out of the torque convertor.....but if they are going to do a trans flush with a machine that pumps new fluid into the torque convertor then its worth the money.
