Transmission problem?

Hi everyone.

I've a 2009 CX9, 22000 miles and It has been mostly used for city driving. I've noticed that when the vehicle is in third gear (NOT when changing gears) and it is not accelerating, exactly when I press the gas pedal I feel a thump from the car. It happens occasionally and only in third gear.
I've had this problem for a few months now and it hasn't gotten worse. Any thoughts on this issue?

Are you talking about the play in the cv joints, where the transmission output shaft engages the axle shafts but there is a little bit of play...almost like a rear wheel drive truck how you have the play in the u-joints.... but much less pronounced in the cx-9. That has always bugged me.

Is that what you're talking about? cuz if not, go to the dealer.

I'm not sure that but I doubt it is from the cv joints. In case it is from the cv joints shouldn't it happen in every gear rather than only in third?

Perhaps a chipped tooth on one of the planetary gears.... go to Aamco or a dealer for sure.
