Transmission gasket (name?)

Hi everyone. I read here alot but this is my first post. my MSP is leaking gear oil from the gasket/seal at the the far drivers side of the tranny (the seal where the metal goes from silver to black) how common an issue is this, and is it as simple and just changing the fluids and gasket and being on my way, or is it a clue to a bigger problem? thanks for any input.

also, what is the official name of the gasket? Im googling transmission gaskets for msp's but nothing that comes up seems to be it.

i dont believe so. maybe i will take a picture of it when i get home. this is the first 5spd ive ever owned so excuse me if i have trouble with some of the lingo

go to this post, and it is the seal that is on the last section of housing, on the bottom right corner of the image. thats the one. thanks again for any info

btw i know its a different engine and tranny but yeah same part still

thats just rtv bro. and yeah, drain the gear oil, take all those 10 mil bolts or what ev out. clean everything!!! and rtv a new gasket

thanks. it looked like it had one of those crush gaskets in there when i looked at it. and i notice a few of the bolts on my tranny are alot cleaner and less rusty then others which implies to me that someone was in there at one point or another. probably didnt seal it well. thanks for the input!
