2016~2023 Transmission fluid

Bought a 2016 with 109,000 miles. Went to drain & fill transmission fluid. Looked like level was to the top of the dip stick, appeared to me there was to much. 4.5 qts came out and I refilled with 4 qts. Level was close to correct. Fluid was a deep red but replacement fluid was blue, is this a problem? What should I do at this point?

Replaced at normal operating temp. Does the half/half mix now create a problem and should I have a shop flush & replace?
The fluid expands. Check while at 122°F. Only then will you know if you need to add more.

Will the mix create a problem, no, but I would do this again at the next oil change to increase the % of new and correct fluid.

To confirm: you measured the level at 122°F? Need an OBD device to monitor the temp.

Yes, fluid should be blue. Only way it would get to red is if someone replaced it with the wrong fluid.

Will do, but curious if the mix now creates a bigger problem. Will drain & fill a couple times help or is a complete flush necessary

My first drain/fill (on a 2017 CX-3) was with the wrong fluid, red Idemitsu M5. Within a week or two I did a second drain/fill with the Aisin FZ and two more rounds after that. Not sure what harm comes from the mix of old OEM fluid and red, they mix fine, no jelly or sludge. I didn't do a flush. I replaced the filter later on because the pan was showing a leak.

Thanks, puts me at ease. Was kicking myself for not putting the red back in instead of adding the blue. Didn't feel too good driving around the block though. Did you need to do the transmission reset after the fluid change?

Yes, I reset the shifting pattern after filling with red fluid.

Do you mean it doesn't shift right after your drain/fill with Aisin FZ, or that you aren't comfortable yet? 😅

Just to confirm, did you check the dipstick with the car idling? If you check the dipstick with the car off, it will read much higher.

Then to get the most precise reading, it should be measured while at proper temp.

Thank you for that info! I measured with the car off. I will get it up to temp, leave it running and measure. There is a 55*F level, is that equally precise?

I think that's 55 degree C (122 degree F). I think it's when the car is lightly warmed up. My car was sitting for 2 hours and when I started up to do job, it was still at 100 degrees.

It's tricky to check when car is running because of all the hoses in the way. Have to be careful of all the rotating bits. I checked from underneath with the splash guard removed. Still very awkward. If it's shifts fine and you don't have any leaks, then you're prob fine.

Some people say they noticed slightly underfilled from the factory. I didn't notice this in mine. I also didn't notice much difference between room temp fluid and 122 F (measuring on the dipstick anyway), but that is the procedure.
