so i was leaving my house on my way to take my MSP to the dyno and tuning shop when at around 3 grand in second gear the transmission slipped out and started griding gears. i thought i was the clutch but when i replaced it i found out it wasnt the case.

You can press the clutch, put it in gear, release the clutch and the car will not move. every gear is like this and reverse make a little noise.

i really need some help guys. rebuilding a transmission is expensive and trying to find a used one is looking hopeless. is there anyother mazda transmission that is interchangable? or does someone know where to find a used MSP tranny, or a rebuild that isnt as expensive but just as dependable? as i said i need help. i hate seeing my baby just sit on the lift at school.HELLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

If it comes down to swapping transmissions, your best bet will be to source a 5-speed from a regular Protege and just take the LSD off your MSP tranny. That's the only difference between them anyway, and you could actually even get the LSD welded while you're at it.

Sorry about your luck man, hope you get it figured out and you don't have to replace the tranny, but if you do.. look for a regular Protege 5-speed. They're all the same minus the LSD in the MSP.

When you try to move, does it sounds like a rattleing can, if so your LSD is broken and needs to be replaced.

ya i did a little more searching on the fourms and i found out its prob the LSD since its the exact same thing everyone else is saying. ill know for sure on monday when i take my transmission apart. thank you guys for your quick response!
