transmission/bellhousing?

I have a 03 protege mazdaspeed 5sp. I noticed my bellhousing is cracked and leaking fluid. im looking for another! im surious if the protege and the mazdaspeed protege trans bellhousings are the same? i know absoulutly nothing about these cars and have tried to look some info up about it but not getting what im after. thanks for anything.

I'm pretty certain they are the same. There was one on eBay but it was in NJ and pickup only.. there are a couple others on there though.

same trans minus the beefed up internal parts

They are the same, but if it's just the bell housing that's cracked there shouldn't be any fluid leaking out. The bell housing portion of the tranny just covers the clutch/flywheel assembly.

yea their is no fluid in the bellhousing.....

the only thing beefed up is that the msp tranny has a lsd and the regular doesnt

ok thanks for the info. i thought it was the bell housing area. its kindof hard to see. the previous owner goobered it up with silicone to make it not leak. it looks to be cracked on the rear close to where it mounts to the engine. there is a mount on the rear of the tranny/engine that the crack it right by. i have not actually seen a crack but there was a pretty good amount of fluid around there and i saw the silicone.
ill try to get a picture of it this week if i can get on the lift. and i saw the one in nj for pick up only i talked to the guy he said he would ship it, i have to call today to get the quote. do you guys think 200 plus shipping is pretty good or do you think going to a junk yard for a protege trans or bellhousing would be cheaper. i have not yet had time to call and get prices from anywere other than ebay yet. thanks a lot for the help and fast responses!

hey guys doesnt the ford probe turbo have the same bell houseing? I saw one at pick and pull I was going to double check for 937protege but my lady left to fresno that means play time for me and the car. I need to fix a leak on my tubo leaking radiator water.

OK so i took the front wheels off today to see if i could get a better look at were the leak was coming from. The leak looks to be in the area where the axle shafts go through. here are some photos. the pics that are further out are just to show you the area im looking through. im not to sure what to call the area of the tranny where the shafts come out. If you look closely at the pics of where the shaft goes into the tranny you can see the silicone that's been put on the outside of the tranny. but here they are. The 3rd and fourth picture are from the top near the bmc. im looking down at the area. there is some sort of sensor on the top or the trans that is unplugged and has no prongs on the inside of it. almost like its a dummy or something ? ?? i donno thanks for any and all of the help!
