Trans fluid how much?

i tried penzoil synchromesh and i don't recommend it...when the car got really hot, it became very hard to shift into any gear...

i switched it back to 75w-90 (cheap valvoline fluid)...tranny now shifts very nicely...

anyways, don't use sychromesh in a protege tranny...sychromesh is way too thin for gear boxes that require thick 75w-90...

GM Synchromesh is 75w90.

I had RP in there and it was ass. Couldn't engage 1st or reverse easily and 2nd was a b**** to get into smoothly. I switched to GM's Synchromesh and haven't looked back.

I know that there are people who say this and that about why you should or shouldn't use which fluid. Why? Where are the facts? Just use what works best in your own opinion.

there's no way the pensoil sychromesh could have been 75-90...it's very thin when poored out of a bottle

also, where's your proof it's 75-90? the oil weight of synchromesh is not advertised...

"Synchromesh is a unique transmission and transaxle fluid that is not API "GL" rated. It has an approximate gear oil grade of about SAE 80W"

Daniel i recommend you to use, REDLINE SHOCKPROOF SYNCHROMESH LIGHTWEIGHT FULLY SYNTHETIC TRANSMISSION OIL..Ive been using that Tranny oil since i did my car and no problems whatsoever, works perfect and it takes all of the punishment you trow at it well you know all of my story what esle can i say about this oil...

and where your info come from?

anyways, i did some digging around at the Penzzoil website and found some datasheets for comparison..

Pennzoil Synchromesh:

Pennzoil Synthetic 75w-90

As I suspected, synchromesh has lower viscosity

Wow I really need to change my fluid. I have GM synchromesh and it's been over 40,000 miles on her since I bought her.
