Trans fluid how much?

The contamination occurs over time as the synchronizers, bearings and gears in the transmission wear out. The resulting metal particles then float around in the lubricant. And we all know that oil with microscopic particles of metal in it does not lubricate as well as clean oil. So if these contaminants are not drained out, they will shorten the life of your transmission.

While you're changing your trans fluid, try to wipe the magnet clean as the metal particles will stick to it while the old trans fluid is draining.

I just change my tranny oil. Took me some time to figure out the location of the fill in hole (I guess I was looking for something on top of the tranny, but it's located on the bottom-front facing diagonal down). A tranny funel (funel with a flexible extension) or a fune with a hose are essential. Removing the air box is a must. The oil was black, had never been changed in 92000 km. Gear run smoother now. Thanks for the pics Hans507, your a life saver!!!

I run Royal Purple and really like it, but I mix in 1 qt. 75w140 to give it a little more heat stability. I've heard great things about Redline as well (MT, not shockproof for street use). I ran Pennzoil synchromesh for a while, but drained it when I talked with a guy who talked with one of Pennzoil's engineers, and he said that it was not at all recommended for our transmissions. For what that's worth.

It's directly above(around) the drain hole.

There is no pan. (manual/5-speed)
You'll have access through the drain hole.

do you have anymore info about this.......did hey say why?(scratch)

Not really, sorry. He forwarded me the email from the guy at Pennzoil, but I didn't keep it and it was two or three years ago. The engineer said something about that their synchromesh (which I assume is just like GM's synchromesh) wasn't formulated to be compatible with some of the metals and/or alloys used in our trannies. Great for some cars, but he said it wasn't for ours.

I know this thread is old, but I should use royal purple 75w140 on the trans fluid change? and it's 3 qts.?

i tried penzoil synchromesh and i don't recommend it...when the car got really hot, it became very hard to shift into any gear...
