Tranny Problems

The other night i was driving around with my friends, driving it pretty hard, when i came to a stop to talk on the cell phone it would not shift into 1st or second or Reverse, anyone else had any problems like this? my shifter seems to stick when the trans gets hot.
 
same here

my shifter seems to get stuck sometimes when i am at a light and it wont go into first gear at first. i have always wondered about that. Another thing is when i am shifting into third no matter what rpm there is always a grinding feel when either downshifting or normal driving? could it be the syncro?
 
why does it seem MP3's have more tranny problems then other protege's??
 
I've got the same problem with third gear. My guess is the synchro. I've been real hard on my tranny. Sometimes mine doesn't want to go into first. I think it goes easier if you shift it into second and then up to first. It seems to line up better.
 
Bah, damn G-15's. We need some better internals in these badboys.

one cause this is a big concentration of MP3 owners, and two people drive these cars hard.
 
no it feels internal, i was dirving mine kinda hard not like ragging on it, i wasn't power shifting or anything, im thinking its a synchro problem.
 
Well, I have trani problems too; I posted it months ago, mine grinds, wouldnt shift some times my clutch wont engage and so many different problems. Only 29,000 Kms on it. I never abused it though, I dont shift it in HI-RPM I shift it around 2900 to 3000. :(
 
Mine doesn't grind, but I couldn't shift into the 1st occasionally, it resolved when I off the clutch, then engage again.

I wonder if the same problem occurs on protege5 too.

latley i have been having problems getting into 4th radomly. i have to do the same thing, let go of clutch then re engage. i might stop by my dealer tom.

yap, according to my dealer P5s have the same problem too. i do have to re-engage the clutch tiem to time some times when i shift to 5th it wont engage at all, all i have to do is try to off the clutch and re-engage again. it's the sinchro problem, my dealer knows it. i'm waitng untill it breaks completely so i can get a new set of all u know :D .
 
let us know what kind of BS you have to go through with the dealer so that when mine croaks i go in with some ammunition instead of trying to fight off an army with a toothpick
