Ok, I had my clutch, flywheel, pressue plate, and some other knickknacks replaced under the clutch chatter tsb back at 25k miles...I'm @ 39k or so now, and recently, and sporadically, i've been having what feels like a slight but very noticable chatter type symptom when engaging the clutch; kind of like it just doesn't want to catch and stay, or at least catch and stay smoothly... 1st, 2nd, and 3rd all have it, not constantly, and not just when the car is cold...just very randomly. Anyone have any ideas? I guess it'll get back to the dealer eventually, but I'd like to have an idea of what it is so that I can tell them exactly what to look for since its about an hour away and I can't deal with any "could not replicate the proble" b-s...
fire away

ahhh...damn, I forget where I found it...there is a link around here somewhere...one of the members had a running list..it was perfect to bring with you to the dealer; it gave them part numbers and diagnosis...I'll see if I can find it. anyone elseknow?

best bet is to pump your clutch..before driving off..It usually helps about 75%!

Some vehicles may exhibit a clutch chatter or judder when releasing
clutch during cold conditions. This may be caused by the flwheel
and clutch cover surface materials creating a chatter or judder
during clutch engagement. The flywheel and clutch cover has been
revised to correct this concern.

1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove the manual transmission according to the following Workshop
Manual procedure:

* 5 Speed: MANUAL TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION M25M-R (section
05-15A-3).

3. Remove clutch disc, clutch cover and flywheel according to the
Workshop Manual procedure CLUTCH UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
(section 05-10).
4. Install new clutch disc, clutch cover and flywheel according to the
Workshop Manual procedure CLUTCH UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
(section 05-10).
5. Reinstall the manual transmission according to the following
Workshop Manual procedure:
* 5 Speed: MANUAL TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION M25M-R (section
05-15A-3).

6. Verify repair.

Chas, what do you mean by pump the clutch before you drive off? Hit it a few times before heading out? It also happens after I've been driving for a while, and it has worked fine for the first 15 mins of the drive...
btw, I BABY this thing. My dunlops lasted 25k miles...

yeah..hit it to the floor a couple of times..this will get the clutch warmed up...and if you do get the shakes..rev engine up more before feathering the clutch..

dealer is trying to give me s***, because they say "Mazda" does not show any tranny problems and that because I have 49000 on the ticker, that it is normal wear. Any ideas????

dealers get paid to do warranty work so if they have no other stuff to do they'll usually be pretty cool about it

Josh, print that bad boy out and bring it in if you go the same dealer or even a new one...if Mazda never had anything out about it, how would Joe customer have the procedure and part numbers forthe whole process? :)

Chas, I've been giving it a shot and so far so good, but I still can't see how even after a good 15 minute drive it would not be warmed up enough to not do it...just so strange...
thanks!

Venting Post:
MOTHER FU@#$%^ER!!! :mad:
Ok, had to vent...sorry...well, just as I thought that I was going to make it to my first self done oil change (because every 3000 miles since I've had the car, something stupid has come up and coincidentally so I had them do the oil when it was in for warranty work) he damn transmission finally went to full out clutch chatter symptoms like before I had half the transmission replaced. felt like the transmission just about dropped out the car...GREAT!! FINE!! off to the dealer I go, AGAIN!!!!!!!
btw, if anyone hasn't already seen me post about the way I drive...I literally drive this thing like I'm a 90 yr old woman because I'm always studying it to make sure everything is ok, and I'm afraid to break it, I'm @ 40k miles, and the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and a couple other tid bits were replaced @ 25k miles... arg!!!
